The goblin stands, waiting, now feeling awkward while the party is deciding its fate. It dares to look in the direction of the exit, behind the kitchen, but quickly turns its face back to Thadius.

As Gorir approaches the door the fleeing goblin was heading towards, the dwarf puts his ear to the wood and listens intently. At first he hears not a sound from the other side, but then... is that an infant crying? Yes, it appears so! And then another. It sounds like several babies are in there!

“You can deal with the snake,” Magdalena snapped at James, hobbling away from the door and toward the goblin. “Do you speak Common?” the paladin demanded of the goblin. “What is in that room with the snakes? And what is beyond that door you were rushing to?” She held her torch up high so she could eye him, with her dagger at the ready to spill his life’s blood.

The goblin cowers in fear of the intimidating paladin. It throws its arms in front of its face and mutters, "No, no, no!"

After a few moments without anyone hitting him, it looks up at Magdalena with big eyes. It rambles something in the Goblin tongue, then stares at the room where the serpents dwell.

"Snake. No goblin." Obviously knowing only a few words in Common, it tries to keep it simple.

"Tribe," it points to where the other goblin was fleeing to before being stopped by Gorir. "Boss goblin. Young."

It looks frightened and pleading when speaking the last word.

When James opens the door, the mlarraun snake is easy to spot. Only a few feet away, between the crates, its upper torso is raised up from the ground, several gashes oozing blood from where Thadius' morningstar has hit it.

As if expecting someone to open the door, the brown serpent spits a glob of poisonous spit towards James, who takes it right in the face. The saliva burns on his skin, and the half-elf tries hard not to let it get into his mouth.

OOC: Mlarraun spits: [roll0] (hit) for 1 poison damage and the poisoned condition on a failed DC10 Con save.

Please make that Con save.

Completely taken by surprise the snake James has no time to react and is struck by the poison.

Magdalena sighed. Ignoring the commotion from the other door, she looked at the others and asked, “Anyone speak goblin? He’s willing to talk. I just can’t understand him.”

OOC: As far as I'm concerned, James can try to take out the snake. If he misses, we'll get back in initiative.

Traubon speaks up. "Aye, I speak Goblin. What do you want to tell him?"

The glob of poison still partially in his eyes, James' aim is off as his dagger slashes in front of him, but misses the snake entirely. With a hiss, the serpent moves backwards to hide between the crates.

OOC: Initiative please, or you could disengage and close the door. The snake will not attack unless you provoke it or linger in the room.

Initiative mlarraun: [roll0]
