You wait for a few moments but your knocks do not bring any responses. You are quite certain that no one is at home.

Jakira was getting impatient and he prowled around for a way into the Warden’s abode.

Jariah frowned in thought as there was no answer to the knock on the door. She looked at Wireth as her eidolon scouted around the outside of the building.

“He might not be here, but he could also be hurt inside if the Sheriff is correct and the goblins are rampaging dangerous. I think we should look inside and see.”

“Maybe there are some fresh tracks in the area as well. It did not take long to get here and we have plenty of time to return to Sandpoint before dinner time… or sunset if we want to wait around a bit longer.”

Wireth Norin, half-orc falconer

Wireth screws up his mouth a moment, considering the building.

"Doesn't hurt to take a walk around it, I guess," he says. "Swamp ground is sure soft enough to find tracks if there are any. If the warden knows the gobbos so well, he wouldn't have let them in without a fight, though. If we don't find tracks or signs of a break in, I'd rather not go breaking in myself. I'd say we pass word along to the sheriff on our way back into town, then come back with the others tomorrow."

Elsbeth

"Uh? Oh sure." He watched her cast it, curious... "Do I get one too?"

Whatever turns out to be the case, he then quickly resumed his interrupted search for a proper mace-stick in the underbrush, hurriedly diving this way and that just in case she changed her mind if he kept her waiting too long or something...

"Hey, what's this...?! Elli, you still want a rapier instead of a dagger?" He shouted back excitedly, pointing to a bunch of whippy willow branches, still green of this year.

"If you can find a couple of club like branches, that would be fine. Whatever you can find to use is okay. After all, we may have to improvise out in the wilds if we lose our weapons."

"Ah, that won't happen," confidently predicted the young man. "It really wasn't that bad," he confided as he abandoned the willows and got back to his quick search through last-year's bed of leaves. "The colour spray I mean. It- It went right through the eyes like they just weren't even there. And then hit the back of my skull like a fist!" Miming it out. "*Bang*, I was out like a light! Tingly all over too. Aha! Here we go, that's ONE." A knobbly piece of lumber sailed out and landed in the clearing, sort of near Elsbeth's feet. "We REALLY got to work on that battle cry though, Elli. 'Forgive me!'s not going to impress any goblins! At all!"

He strode back out, practice-swinging his own length of - what was it? Bit sticky in spots, so probably some kind of fir?

"Ready?" Fastus grinned. And then, without warning he was charging her full on, shouting as he swung his branch menacingly, little streams of red fire spilling from his mouth along with his battle roar!

OOC: Plenty of time for her to pick up her branch before that if she wants to though. Intimidate: 1d20+8=14. Success!

So what happened on the casting side by the way? Do we both have Mage Armor on, just Elsbeth, neither, something else entirely?

Jariah, Wireth, Jakira & Nairo

Searching around the area Wireth notes a number of tracks. They are all halfling and small swamp animal tracks. The most recent halfling tracks seem to have started at the front door, circled the house and then headed into the swamp. The tracks appear to be about a day and a half old.

Wireth points out the tracks.

Looks like he left here a good day and a half ago. Possibly a hunting trip. I don't know how far they lead, though, and I don't want to go following them without some idea about how far and deep they might go. I think we need to find the others, since it looks like this isn't going to be the quick jaunt we thought it was."

Suldrel tears his gaze away from the antics of Fastus and Elsbeth as he notices said eery quiet of the house and takes a few quick strides over to the entrance to their house/cabin and peeks in; cautiously.

Elsbeth

Elsbeth picked up the stick Fastus had found for her. She swung it around experimentally, getting a feel for the weight. Then he suddenly charged her while screaming madly.

She nearly dropped her stick in surprise but managed to hold onto it. Sure, she had practiced against Ameiko and a few others but somehow, this was different. At almost the last moment, she swung her stick at her charging friend, easily missing him.

Attack with stick = 1d20+0=4
BTW: Mage Armor was cast on both combatants.
