[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

Seeing that the miners don't appear to be backing off Reks attempts to destroy the weapon the Aqualish is holding, but can't seem to hit the wrench while trying not to hit the Aqualish. He decides to take a slightly more defensive approach and backs away 5 meters yelling to the miners "This is your last chance to be civil, we need not fight like this. I've come only to investigate and not to take any action against you!"

[sblock=OOC]I'm going to attempt to persuade these guys to stop fighting me: _: 1D20+4 = [1]+4 = 5

I'm not even gonna bother blowing force points on that natural one, so it looks like the fight is on haha.[/sblock]

Disquieted by the sudden appearance and disappearance of the sinister alien, Cal snapped his attention back to the matter at hand and filed away the image into the back of his mind... just in time for unabashed violence to break out all around him. Observing their gand shoot the feeorin ringleader in the face with stun bolts, the human winced as the gand's target dropped like a sack of rocks. The miners didn't looked rather unsure of themselves.

His medical instincts kicking in, Cal shouldered his carbine and moved forward, hands in the air. "Back up, now and give me room to work, I'm a medic!" Pulling out his medpack, he made sure the universal medical symbol on the pack was prominently displayed so that the miners could see he was speaking truthfully. Dropping to a knee, he pulled out a flashlight and diagnostic device to check the feeorin for a concussion.

Glancing back, he made eye contact with Kacela and jerked his head in the direction of the other Jedi. "You may want to go help your pal over there. He looks like he may be in trouble."

OOC: Arg! Ninja'd! Had this whole post rolled and written but now.... Ah well. Repurposing:

The gand tried not to wince too much after Jihahna spoke. Time for more serious- and then Cal Domaru steps forth, throwing all that out the 'lock.

So, for now, the gand does nothing.

[sblock=Readied Action]If the thugs move against us:

The gand switches her selector to LETHAL with a deliberate *clack* and starts firing... First, right at the feet of those advancing on Cal! Two small craters shower out grit and sparks, definitively waking them up from their trance.

Jumble buzz clack clackety buzz, "Don't think about dying," the vocoder (sweetly?) tells the thugs. Jumble WHIRR mumble, "Think about living."

Then, without pause, his aim drifts to horizontal and she starts pressing the trigger once more...

[sblock=Actions]So that's her version of Intimidate, with Advantage :):

Intimidate: 1D20 = [6] = 6, 1D20 = [15] = 15 = 15, thank god for Advantage!

Initiative: 1D20+3 = [14]+3 = 17
[/sblock]OCC: What do you guys think about this new way of rendering gand speech? Was the old one better?[/sblock]

Jihahna rolls her eyes at the generous medic. "GREAT!" She mutters to herself. "He's going to kill them with kindness. There's no way they're going to listen to that". She looks down momentarily and shakes her head. As she does so, something catches her eye when Cal speaks up... "Who's friend?" she thought absent mindedly. Then she saw it, the brown robes of the Twi'lek female, the lightsaber at her belt! Jihahnas eyes swelled immediately in shock, giving way to anger in her mind. She flicked her head in the direction Cal had indicated.... "Another One?" Jihahna's heart started fluttering.

"Jedi? Here? This is NOT right!" Jihahna had not met jedi before, but she had heard enough stories about them to know that wherever they went, trouble always followed. Then you had the 'dark' jedi. The ones who couldn't control themselves and just gave into emotional incontinence like a spoilt child. What did THEY know about the real problems in the world. About the day-to-day struggles of the common man.... What did they know? "I should have listened to my gut", she whispered theough gritted teeth.

Jihahna's jaw tenses, her fingers tightening over her blaster rifle. Little beads of sweat begin to trickle down the side of her face. The anger, which was fluctuating in her mind, she began to tie down. She refocused on the scene in front, a little more jumpy. She sucked in a deep breath through her nostrils and breathed out through her mouth. Watching, waiting.

The miners near the fallen feeorin appear to suffering from a mix of fear and gradute but they all back up and put up their stun sticks. One burly looking human says "We wasn't going to kills ya, just get you to leave... it seemed like a good idea when Solm there was a talking about it last night..." Cal knees down and starts working on the follow. He will probably be extremely sore and spouting a massive headache but the medic is pretty sure the man will suffer no permanent damage.

Meanwhile Jihahna and Vivian both now notice the fight behind them, along with the young padawan Kacela... the fellow there face the six beings is wielding two lightsabers!!! . Vivian draws her pistol but does not fire saying "They are just miners! Don't kill them!!!"

Reks barely misses the aqualish's as the other five miners advance and take swings at the young Jedi, the first connecting with a glancing blow the others not so much, their fear getting the better of them. The aqualish also strikes Reks with a glancing blow and says "Not all powerful are they, not you see! Loss jobs you will, interfere they are allowed to try here!" His words seem to have some affect on the miners still fighting and they shake off whatever fear they might have had, thinking they can beat up one threat to their way of life (or so they seem to believe).

GM: I like to do group initiative, so as your team 'won' initiative you all can take actions this turn and then it is the group fighting Reks's turn to go. Reks and the miners he is faces are 20 meters away from the rest of the group. Making a Range attack into melee is at a disadvantage if you are not trying to hit 'ally', which in this case, Reks counts as.

The gand actually, discretely buzzes at Jihahna's 'kindness' comment -- laughter? Then she casually gestures with a still-hot blaster, addressing the miners -- not unkindly as it turns out.

whirr mumble clackclick, "If you understand then please disperse for now." mumble buzz clicketty jumble clack "These ones will make sure Solm gets treatment at a proper clinic." A pause. High-hum burble clacketty "And local security is likely coming."

Hopefully the thought of that last one will get them moving.

If not, the short, ponchoed gand is still standing her ground, heavy blaster hanging down at the end of her arm, purposefully left within full view... SHE controls this ground.

OOC: Renewing his Readied action from the last post, please. I think Cal and this gand have this zone covered for now, if you guys want to handle the other fight?

OOC: Agree with Binder Fred, I think the Gand and Cal have this sector covered.

Action: Pack up medkit
Incidental: Ready carbine

Packing up his kit, Cal grabbed a few white capsules and stuffed them in Solm's shirt pocket. "He'll be fine, other than a massive headache. Make sure to tell him to take those capsules when he eventually wakes up. Look, we'll leave once we figure out what's going on with the Kwi. The work you folks do is valuable for the galaxy, no one wants you to stop working. If you leave us be, we can get all this cleared up more quickly. I mean, no one wants to die, right?"

Standing up, the human turned to the Gand and asked quietly, "Did you happen to notice someone watching us when all this started? Black clothes, skin looked like a corpse? He didn't seem all that surprised that everything went to poodu." He focused his attention on the continuing melee. He wasn't sure what the other Jedi was doing here, but figured it would be in their interest to assist him.

slur click hum jumble "Leave Soln with these ones, please," contradicts the gand as to the first part, addressing the thugs. Her blaster rises by that little amount if any of them attempt to take him away.

It then suddenly becomes clear that in this case, 'these ones' means 'us'.

Seeing that his words don't seem to be helping, Reks attempts to destroy the wrench once again, making two precise attacks with his lightsabers, one against the Aqualish, and one against one of the seemingly lesser miners, managing to destroy both of their weapons without harming anyone.

Surprised for a second time today, Jihahna blinks twice at what has just transpired. That SMUG medic actually DID kill them with kindness. "Great..." Jihahna thought to herself. "We've got ourselves a flower toting 'hero' and a couple of trouble magnets... And the Gand..." The Gand, Jihahna liked actually. Maybe it was the two great shots it had made earlier or it's laughter at her joke from before... At least it wasn't afraid to jump into combat...

With a glance at the others for instruction, she nodded and headed into range of the Jedi. She made certain her blaster rifle was set to stun and called out to the currently passive miners. The fact that honey was more effective than vinegar in this situation sickened the hardened Jihahna a little, but she was a proffessional above all other things and would not allow her feelings to.... Cloud her judgement. With a professional smile, she spoke aloud once more. "You guys all made a GOOD decision today. For that, we're going to just mop up the others with stun. You should know that our investigation isn't necessarily a bad thing for you workers. You should be AWARE that if the Kwi prove to be sentient, you may be entitled to greater pay, enforceable by local authorities. We will do everything in our power to find an agreeable solution for everyone if possible."

She shrugs, "What your bosses are frightened of is having to pay a little extra out of their multi-billion credit investment. Meanwhile, they may be ripping off YOU and ripping off OTHERS, causing YOU guys to RISK YOUR LIVES, defending their right to pay YOU LESS? I don't think so!"

With that she takes a stun shot at the still aggressive workers near the Jedi before turning back to them. "Exposing yourselves to this is way above your pay-grade! It's not worth it!"

[sblock=Mechanics]

Persuasion - Encourage them to assess their own worth in this. Are they being paid enough for soldier work?

_: 1D20 = [12] = 12

Stun shot

Damage
