"Investigating Thulwar's passage first would seem the optimal path," Icosa notes. "I will not be inconvenienced by submersion, but those of you who breathe will be. Further, I see no reason to agitate the animals unless there is no further option to advance. Lyllie's efforts reveal them to be of simple and predatory minds."

Yttrian shrugs and sets off to investigate the northern path, seeing if he can find a way to get at the hidden window Thulwar has discovered.

It is not a hard climb. Part of the fallen rocks would even provide an unexpected stairway towards the path. As Yttrian investigates it, though, he overhears the southern voice:

"Yes... The last ones followed through the path as well... They found some contraption capable of opening it, we do not know where..." - the eastern one continues - "These are tunnels used by the Teraphim workers, those who watch and preserve these ruins..."

"Or that is as much a guess as we might risk..." - the western one goes on. "I don't think they met a welcoming fate, the last travelers... We haven't seen them since, at least."

"Either that or they found a way out..." - retorts the eastern one.

"Or maybe they died..." - the western one answers.

"You can't know that..." - the eastern one continues.

"I assume..." - the western one suggests.

"Oh, please..." - the southern one interrupts - "...dead, free, lost, it matters not! Do as you will, travelers, but set us free, for the gods mercy!" - the three fall silent.

It seems that the passage will open by a contraption in the center, as far as Yttrian understands. pushing it might be enough to move the stone...

Yttrian ignores the pleas of the trapped figure for now and focuses on the task at hand. He looks over the entrance and calls back over his shoulder. "There's some sort of control here. I think it'll open the way. You want me to push it?"

As Yttrian approaches the contraption, his intentions clear, the western voice rises.

"I'm afraid I can't allow you to leave" - he says, rising his voice to a point that disturbs the thunderbreed. Lyllie overhears the creatures as they begin to break the cover of sleep... "Hunnngeeeerrrrr...." - they whisper in unison, lightning beginning to flicker between them.

"Don't!" - the eastern voice rises. "Leave them, that was our pact!"

"I won't remain here forever! I WON'T! FACE IT! WE tried your way, and it led NOWHERE! Why would anyone, ANYONE, show mercy to us? If they won't release us, fine! SO BE IT! EITHER THEY SLAY ME, OR I'LL HAVE THE THUNDERBREED BURNING THESE HALLS! WITH THEM INSIDE!"

"...weeeee are HUUUUUNGRYYYYYY!" - the creatures cry out loud, and bolts begin to rise between them, surrounding the heroes and coursing through the water!

The western prisoner continues to yell and curse, keeping the creatures agitated. Some of them begin to glide around, leaving a colorless, viscous substance for a trail.

[Ok, I need those that held placement to a later date to work it into the map now. The thunderbreed can shock anyone at adjacent squares and anyone that touches water will be hit as well. You can try to avoid it, of course, as you move around. Also, they are slow, but they move, and are actively looking for flesh to devour!]
