[IC] The Odd Job

"Now, now, Galdar, I suspect you are barking up the wrong tree," Ana said looking at the man. "Sir, I believe we could avoid a bit of bloodshed here. Gheedum here owes each of us 150 gold to safeguard this cart of goods. If you perhaps have a counter offer, I'm sure the five of us might be willing to see that contract completed and be on our way. I'm sure whatever you gave us you could just put on Gheedon's tab since I doubt he can offer a counter.

"But don't test us. Sure, you may have us surrounded and your archers might be able to kill us. But can they kill us before you are dead? We don't want to die any more than you do. What do you say?"

Gheedon looks arround those assembled flabbergasted"What are you doing kill them all ready, we had a deal"

If you blinked you would of missed it but the man vanishes and re-appears behind Gheedon wrenching his elegant cloak from him before vanishing again and re-appearing in his original spot.

"Always did like this cloak. As for a counter offer your more than welcome to join the guild provided you can pass the entrance exam but the very thought of you killing me is a joke."

Round 0

They dragged themselves up out of the tunnel and into open air again. Hrgach was grateful not to have to be breathing human and minotaur stank anymore. They unloaded the wagon from the platform and sent it back down for the others.

And then a man in a dark hood stepped out to accost them.

“Oh, for the love of Maglubiyet!” Hrgach grumbled. He glared at Graan. “You sold us out, you stupid orc?” he growled at the big beast. Galdar wasn’t in any condition to fight, at it was just him and the female up here. While he grudgingly admitted she was decent in a fight, she was still a female.

And now she was playing stupid? Of course these guys were here to rob the cart.

And now she tried to counter-negotiate? And the minotaur was turning on Gheedon. Had these people no honor? Hrgach had been a mercenary a long time. One didn’t get more work if one could be bought off a contract so easily. Fulfill the contract you took before taking another.

“Stop the tedious posturing,” the hobgoblin said. “Either attack us or let us be on our way.” He turned back to the cart, though he kept his eye on the hooded man and on the tree line.

"Your more than welcome to take your leave I wont stop you my issue is with this rat that you associate with" The hooded man motions at Gheedon with his dagger.

"My angry friend, he isn't a highwayman. He's a duly appointed member of the Guild that Gheedon told us he was trying to avoid paying taxes to. Isn't that right, Gheedum? Now, I don't know about you, but when I get hired to perform an honest job, I expect the job to be legal. Gheedon wasn't straight with us from the beginning and I see no reason to defend him against his own Guild."

Turning to the man in black. "We were hired for a job. We aren't this idiot's associates. But we aren't leaving till he pays us. As I said, we are owed 150 gp each but a reasonable counter offer will probably satisfy us. You do work for the Guild, right?

"But my angry friend there has a point. For tying off loose ends' sake, how did you know Gheedon would be traveling through the tunnel here?"

"One of our associates may have mentioned the a secret route passing the royal guards blockade and you are mistaken my dear, I am order of the black eye or as most people refer to us thieves guild. The way I see it you have a number of options, given that Gheedon is in no position to pay you. You can walk away. You could take me up on my offer of joining the guild. Or we can bury you in the lake over there"

"Really?" Ana asks, turning to look at, and drawing and waving her sword at Gheedon. "You did not mention the Black Eye was after your ass. Do you think we would have taken your job if we had known?"

"What do you others say about the current offer?" She turns back to the man in black, blade lowered, "Which way is the nearest town?"

Gheedon remains silent his face is that of panic, you can almost hear the cogs in his brain turning as he tries to figure out a solution.
"Darrow hill is just a short way away" He beckons with his dagger.

"I'm not dying for this man." Asha points at Gheedon. She turns to the man who has been speaking."Now if you could point me in the direction of Darrow Hill I will take my leave."

Asha smiles at the guildmen. She would like her payment but had a feeling Gheedon was planning to double cross them anyway. She had no desire to join the Guild and walkin away alive left her no worse off than before this started. She looked to the others hoping they didn't do anything stupid.
