[IC] The Odd Job

The bright light of the rear wheel cuts through the night revealing vine like tendrils creeping towards the caravan plain for all to see.
Another scream, this one somewhat muffled can be heard somewhere west of your current location.

Ana, who was moving back toward the cart, sees the vine-like tendrils, stops and heads toward the nearest one on the west side of the road, swinging her sword at it.

Ana's sword cleaves the vine in two the part of the vine that is still attached to whatever is out there writhes in pain before retreating into the darkness.
 

Asha draws back when she sees the tendrils moving towards the others and the wagon. She climbs higher onto the wagon to avoid the vines and shields her eyes as Aloysius casts his light spell. She watches the woman, was it Ana, strike the vines with her sword. The vines slither off into the darkness and Asha tries to follow them looking for whatever plant creature is on the other end.
 



"Someone light a fire. That might hold these things back." Ana calls out. "They didn't like the taste of my sword. Fire should scare them even more." She then peers into the gloom to the west trying to discern the source of the scream.

Aloysius obliges with a twitch of his wand and "ignis", he grabs one of the cart's torches and it bursts into flame. He sweeps it around in a semi circle, muttering something about "bloody gardening" under his breath.

Hrgach picked himself up and as the light illuminated the area he spotted the vines. He drew his greatsword as Aloysius lit a torch, which was immediately blown out by that strange wind again.

“Okay, that’s not natural,” the hobgoblin muttered. He moved around to the front to protect the horses, swinging at any vines that drew near to the animals.
