[IC] The Odd Job

"Ahem", says Aloysius.

He jumps down from the cart nimbly. A small patch of grey skin is shaken loose from somewhere in a sleeve.

"You want me to guard the crates but you want the others to take the crates. You want the "scrawny one" to do the guarding in the first place. You really aren't a big thinker, are you?"

He walks right up to Gheedon's face.

His grey skin and slight odour are very evident at this range.

"I have hung around in a river for days, repeatedly drowning. I've got the patience to wait in a cursed demon-blighted clearing for six hours listening to the increasingly distant sounds of you all dying underground. I've also got the sense to be taking the horse and cart and going on my own way while you all die for the sake of your drugs. You see, I have no interest in the money, really. Though my colleagues are correct, you really ought to pay them more.

"But then what do I know? I'm just the scrawny one. I tell you what. Why don't you hold my cat".

Zeke leaps onto Gheedon's neck as he says this.

"He will make sure you behave yourself. And for the love of the gods, man, put your tongue away when talking to a female. You're like a bloody rabid dog. And you know what we do to rabid dogs in Hofholme?"

A burst of electricity leaps into Gheedon's from the cat.

Asha looks at the crates and then at their employer. Did the man actually expect her to carry one of those the rest of the way. As Ana begins to negotiate Asha hops down off the wagon. She walks over near the edge of the burnt field. The sword and scattered armor was disconcerting.

Asha walked back to the others. She sat down on one of the crates and watched the argument. If Ana could get more out of the lech then she would try to carry the crate. She probably wouldn't be successful but for 50 gold she'd try.

Ana jumps down from the cart and interposes herself between Aloysuis and Graan, sword drawn. She says to Graan, "You will stay right there while we negotiate, Graan." To Gheedon, she says, "I guess I'm not alone when I disagree with your plan. 150 gold each. Take it or we leave it."

Gheedon hits the floor dropping the cat in the process. Graan turns around he is some distance away with his two crates, he draws his axe and leans for a few moments, before shrugging and carrying on pushing his crates.

Seeing his protector desert him Gheedon squeals like a pig"150gold"

"Excellent," Ana declares. "Now, before we start lugging crates and having to split up, let's unhitch the horses and see if we can push the cart. No one rides in the cart." She looks down at Gheedon, "No one."

Gheedon looks up at the women utterly defeated without Graan to defend him. The orc is still pushing his crates along he is close to the fallen sword, who knew what he was thinking.

The horses unhitched bolt off into the forest running with some sort of purpose.

"C'mon, it's almost dark let's try to get across this hellish desert as fast as we can." She sets herself up behind the cart and waits for the other to get in place. "Should be even easier since we're two crates short," the thinks to herself.

Round 0

Hrgach shook his head, standing over the others with his crossbow, keeping a watch in the darkness as they argued. Once things were settled, he put up the crossbow again and moved to help the others get the cart going. This wasn’t exactly the job they’d signed up for. Some shortcut. There was no telling what they’d find down that hole.

Hauling the cart is hard work having to pick through the bodies and gear littering the ground but progress is steady yet slow.Catching up with Graan he loads his crate onto the back of the cart before heading upfront to help haul the cargo, Gheedon glares at Graan the entire trip yet remains perfectly silent. The light from the sun fades and the moon rises the ground begins to emit an eerie red glow, that abruptly stops at the horizon.

Finally arriving at the "hole" which is infact more of a small chasm stretching about 7or8ft and defends some 15ft with a fairly steep slope before leveling out and disappearing under the earth. The hole was clearly not made by anything natural the edges and the slope are all smooth, the slope itself seems to be made of yellowish cut flagstone.
