D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (River Gang)

Genuinely surprised by your kindness, Stryke takes your food offering eagerly. "They gave me nothing. I have only had a few nuts I have secreted for many days."

He scratched at the stubble on his head, squinting. "I got here in what I assume is a similar method to you, though perhaps less successfully."

He pauses, awaiting his freedom.

OOC: Are you gonna let him out?

"Here? Why, because I failed, of course." he shook his head. Then sensing your next question to be your true first question, "Failed attempting the same thing you are here for. Or did you think that your master is the only one who desires the staff?"

Kurzon walks over after securing his prisoner, "Udit, he is safe here, leave him with some food and water and let us be on our way."

He looks the drow up and down, "We can free him after we have acquired the staff and given it to our sponsor."

Shrugging, "That is just my view though."

Kurzon drags his prisoner to another cell, using the keys from the guard to open it. Removing the gag he squats down to the bound man.

"Now my canary, I want you to sing for me," he grumbles. "How do we get to the staff and how many guard it?"

The mercenary looks terrified (he's seen what the implements of torture on the table can do), and stammers, "Staff? What, like a wizard's staff? Is that s-something from the D-Dragon's horde? I-I dunno, does anybody need to guard it, when there's a D-Dragon? Please, I'm just a p-prison guard."

"He's useless, not one of the worst ones, just pathetic." says Stryke, "Whereas I can tell you something about the staff, and how to get it. But, really, there's going to have to be something in it for me - I'm not asking a lot, really, just let me out of here, and I will tell you all that I know."

In answer to Udit's question, he shrugs, "I was sent by the matron mother of my house. It would be fatal to refuse her. And you? A wizard, I am guessing."

Drako looked around the room watching Kurzon with his new pet. It was interesting to watch the change, the prison guard becoming the prisoner.

Turning back to the drow Drako began, “It might be best to let him out, get as much info as we can. Plus I wouldn’t feel right just leaving him here. What if we don’t make it back, no one should starve to death in a cage.”

"Starving to death is no way to die no..." Udit nodded to Draco.

"So, uh, better earn your freedom then. Why did they capture you and not just kill you? And tell us what you know about the staff, how to get it etc".

"Let me out and give me a crossbow and a sword, if you have one, and I will tell you how to find the staff. And you might like to hurry; someone may come to relieve these fellows soon."
