Location: Pillar of the Sun & Lower Lake, Morning
Encounter: The Dracolich Dretchroyaster
Round Two
Dunmire watched as the greenish haze cleared. He expected them all dead, but there was
Kurzon and
Auraia still toe-to-maw with the skeletal dragon.
Aquaria was down, but she didn't look quite dead yet, as
SnorLoska roared and charged forward. He watched as the half-orc swung his sword at the dragon, who snapped it's jaws at the weapon, blocking the blows with it's teeth.
Dunmire finished loading his crossbow and shuffled away from Mord, taking cover behind the pillar's former base.
These guys are tough he thought to himself as he fired,
maybe we'll survive this.
The quarrel ricocheted off the dragon's skull and went somewhere into the lower lake beyond. He cursed and began to reload as
Mord fired two bolts of eldritch energy from behind the pillar's point. Dunmire could feel the strange energy as it went past him and he found it unsettling. He looked up to see one of the bolts open a crack in the dragon's skull, from a nose-hole to an eye-hole.
This was exciting, but it unsettled him even more.
Udit rushed forward, reviving Aquaria with a potion before retreating into the shadows of a bend in the cavern.
The genasi began to return to her feet, an expression of determination on her face.
Then the impossible happened: Auraia stabbed her psychic blade under the dragon's chin and, as it brought it's head around to bite her for the offence, Kurzon plunged his glowing sword into the crack left by Mord's bolt. The heavily armoured half-orc twisted the glowing blade with all his might. There was a flash of light, and bright, glowing cracks appeared across the skull.
The
Dracolich began a deep, loud growling-roar that turned suddenly and strangely completely silent as the skull burst in two.
Kurzon and Auraia stepped back (SnorLoska stabbed a chunk with his sword) to avoid the falling bones, and as the pieces hit the ground they crumbled, leaving chunks that looked more like rocks, gravel, and sand than they did like bone.
The rest of the Dragon's skeleton did the same, falling to the ground in a shower of stones.
"What!?" exclaimed Dunmire,
"Wow, oh wow... Amazing! We're all alive, and we... we won."
GM: | Yup. Wow. Good job.
