Lord Nelleon takes a step back away from the trapped door, then rests with his sword point in the ground and both hands on its pommel. "It seems patience is a virtue indeed."

his appraisal reveals that this ‘jewel’ is a cleverly crafted bit of sealed quartz. Inside the quartz is alchemist’s ice. If thrown the jewel breaks and explodes exactly as alchemist’s fire but instead inflicts cold damage.
Beyond the door is a short passage to the south. The short passage ends in a wooden door with another inscription: “Following the herd is for fools. Fear not their icy derision. Instead, fear only thy Infernal Lord.”
Continuing on through the door brings you to a second room. Inside the stone chamber, there are four doors – each facing a cardinal direction. It is about the same size as the last. The entire chamber seems strangely cold. The ground is dirty and dusty. This room is also lit with a small oil lantern that hangs from the ceiling. There is a small amount of frost on the lantern’s glass panes. The eastern and southern doors are plain wooden doors. The western door is covered in a strange pulsating violet mold.
Testing the air it does appear that the cold is coming from the direction of the west door and the strange pulsating violet mold.
"Hm. Well, the herd would certainly avoid the strange goo," Silhouette says lightly. "So I think we can rule out the sides. The mold there is cold, so it may be the 'icy derision' we're meant not to fear. My first thought is that we might use fire...our Infernal lord...against it."
"But we are told to fear our Infernal lord. And we were provided with that cold alchemy previously as a reward for our inquisitiveness. So...try throwing that vial at the mold. Perhaps this ice must be fought with yet more ice."

Niles' mouth turns dry as he draws out the quartz. It is cold, his nemesis. His hand shakes, then he gets an idea, "Lady Silhouette, would you do the honors? My hand is not the most accurate" If she accepts He will gingerly hand it to her.

Cass finds nothing wrong with the floor in front of the door. However the door is a different matter. It appears to be a trap that is activated when the door is opened.

Cass also notes that the ground is dirty and dusty and at least a dozen individuals have walked towards the southern and the eastern doors. No one seems to have approached the western door.

[section]Cass backtracks away from the eastern door inside the new room. He is careful to turn in place and retrace his steps. When he returns to the others, he shares what he learned. "The ground is dirty, too. Dusty. Looks like a dozen or so individuals have investigated the southern and eastern doors. It's the eastern door that's trapped. I didn't see any footprints by the western door with the mold." Cass shrugs and moves back to the rear of the group, making sure that he is in the hallway, well away from all of the new doors. "Your call which door to choose."[/section]

"The footsteps, would that be the herd? And they avoided the western? The one there with the slime? It sounds like your logic about fearing our master, the fire aspect especially in this case, is indeed a sound course of action."

Armides Diat, human Inquisitor of Asmodeus

Armides looks impatient and motions towards the door with the mold or fungus or whatever it is. He doesn't really care what it is as long as they can bypass it and finish this testing.

"Throw the demned thing already," he snaps.

Silhouette gives Niles a flat look, then takes the vial from him and pitches it at the strange fungal mat on the door that bars their path.

The quartz breaks upon striking the mold. Instantly the mold begins to shrivel up and die. The temperature in the room starts to climb. As the last of the mold dies away the temperature is similar to the previous room. The western door is revealed to have an inscription: "Thou hast made thy own path."

ooc: I was not sure if you were going to do an attack roll or not. sorry for not 'just doing it' every one.

Niles veers away from where the slime was. Reading the inscription he smiles, but is not really sure he should say anything, yet. He does give a nod of approval to Silhouette.
