Ideas for a new character

I was definitely being more than a little facetious. :) But yeah, the paladin variants in UA are very appropriate for fiendish type characters.

Since we're on the topic of UA and you're looking for something with some melee and special goodies but not necessarily religious, try out the Battle Sorcerer, or maybe the Duskblade from PHBII. Plenty of combat prowess and spells galore. Both are quite capable of pumping out some serious pain.

Go with the Knight from PHBII. He has challenges, makes combat for his foes diffilcult via his abilities, and is a great damage-soaked and dealer. Go Sword and board and pick up more feats from PHBII (shields ones especially).

thx for the tips guys. I'll look into the paladin's variants, knight and duskblade

to finish let me just ask another question for a different character.

Which class would you chose for a viking character? probably a barbarian?

For your character, I would seriously consider a Monk/Psionicist, specializing in the 'blaster' type of powers.

A Paladin/Monk multi-class would be scaaary.

For a less religious character, You can't go wrong with any two of fighter, rogue, or monk. Give yourself a Charisma-boosting item and take Use Magic Device if you add Rogue so you can use wizard items (for blasting). :)

I don't know anything about the variants, so i gotta work with core only for character suggestions. *LOL*

There are a few ones I would consdier choosing:

  • Bard or Bard/Barbarian. Play the classic and classy Skald, singing of the gods, the giants, and the folk of middleheim. Great RP oppertunities :)
  • Barbarian or Barbarian/Fighter. Play the iconic raging berzerker, and go nuts :]
  • Cleric. Play a pious servant of the god, who never shies away from battle.
  • Druid. See if you can't playa varient which I proposed on EN World a while back, which I made more 'nordic' feeling. link
  • Fighter. Fighters work here, quite easily too. You don't [/i]have[/i] to eb a rager; many Norse heroes weren't, after all :)

hope that helps :)

Druidic Avenger is a decent choice, yeah. I don't think it would have a specific place from the Norse Sagas or anything, but it fits well enough :)

Good one, Aus ;):)
