If we could wake up John Wayne from the dead and put him into a fantasy movie, what kind of character would you like to see him play?

A "young John Wayne" might make a surprisingly good Drizzt, I imagine . . .

Several of the books could be re-imagined as Westerns. There are some choice roles for character actors like Walter Brennan, Slim Pickens and Iron Eyes Cody as well.

Hehehe. King Conan. Just once, I want to hear him say "By Crom, I will have my vengeance!"

Robin of Locksley, with Clark Gable as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

He could voice as Draco in Dragonheart.

Well, John Wayne did do one period sword & horse movie: The Conquerer in which he starred as Ghengis Kahn. Generally considered to be one of his worst movies. (Though, I personally have not seen it.)

Once we get better at digital manipulation, you'll have your wish :)

I think... hmm. I could see him as King Arthur or one of the Knights. He'd make a good ranger, as well. And I think he'd make a good cleric, esp. as one who might have forsaken a life of violence, only to be dragged back into it.

Gandalf. I imagine the fight scene in Fellowship of the Ring would have some slightly different dialogue:

Saruman slams the doors shut.

Gandalf: "Now just a minute there, pardner...."

Saruman stands and advances toward Gandalf.

Gandalf, as he draws his six-shooter and plugs Saruman: "Whoa, take 'er easy there, Pilgrim."

On a more serious note, this topic was already covered in the book Any Similarity to Persons Living or Dead is Purely Coincidental by Josh & Drew Friedman. In the book, they show a movie poster for "Dawn of the Duke" with the tag lline 'He Rose From The Dead To Lead Troops Back Into Vietnam!'

You know, I've never heard him utter any sentence that begins nor ends with the word "Pilgrims."

Correct me if I'm wrong.
