If you could be the best at one thing...

Probably Arcane Magic; you don't have a boss to answer to, there's a much larger array of spells.

Divine Magic might be fun, though. For $500,000 I'll cure your cancer and it will never return. $1,000,000 and I'll bring your dead relative back to life and health. $3,000,000 and I'll make sure they stay dead. For $25,000,000, I'll take your worst enemy and leave him in the Hell of your choice. For $50,000,000 I'll take you bodily up to Heaven. For $100,000,000 you get to stay. Obviously my patron would have to be Waukeen :)

Hmm, divine magics give you create food and water and healing stuff which would be nice. There is that faith baggage though.

Arcane is just cool flying and teleporting (no more long commute). And you would either be really smart or really charismatic.

Psionics gets you some nifty things and is not dependent on a spellbook or faith. Plus there are the wide ability benefits that go with being a master as noted above.

Be the best in the world at advanced tech? Being an engineer or pilot does not seem as cool as actual powers.

But that is the cool thing about it. You were not born with anything special, you just use what is already there, and make really cool stuff. :)

I'd probably pick Divine Magic, assuming the Deity was real and granted power. :) One thing that I always enjoyed was the pretend-feeling of knowing, without trace of doubt, that you had divine backing, that you were fighting for a just cause, and you had the power to back it up.

But then, you wouldn't really call it "faith" at that point, would you? :)

Otherwise, Advanced Technology.

Given the right supplies, I gotta go with advanced tech this hour. I love the idea of being the gnome with the big friggin gun firing at the mage just over the horizon who don't suspect nothing. And airships and mechs are a great side-benefit...

Of course, this kind of decision changes on an hourly basis for me, so I might vote again later...

It depends, I guess. I've given the matter considerable thought...

If I had arcane magic, I'd probably utilise teleportation to make the big bucks, and illusion magic for some distinctly political agendas (I've always wanted to materialise a giant demon in the sky above Jerusalem and give a congratulatory speech - "Well done, carry on, you're doing great work here" - to everyone in the vicinity, for example). Later, possibly establish my own Lunar colony (I don't need rocket boosters; there goes 99% of the budget) and a magic academy, with the intention of bringing the world under my benevolent rule.

If I had divine magic, I'd probably utilise healing to make the big bucks, and divinations to discern the truth about creation. I'd probably start a religious movement with the truths I uncovered, and eventually bring the world under my benevolent rule. Probably the boring-est path.

If I had psionics, I'd probably embark on a one-man espionage spree, become rich and influential, maybe get myself voted in as President of the United States. (Not through money - I'm not that jaded!) After that, I'd use my awesome powers to demand face-to-face meetings with world leaders (secure in the knowledge that I've got my own force field), and determine exactly what they're doing, thus establishing my benevolent rule over the planet.

If I had advanced technology (presupposing that it's really advanced technology, like zero-point power generation and self-maintenance nano gestalt intelligences), I'd probably embark on a one-man troubleshooting spree, involving trouble and shooting. That, or become a technological mogul, insinuating my technology into every facet of life on this planet (and probably uploading my intellect into the form of an AI for immortality's sake). And when they can no longer do without me, I'll establish my benevolent rule over the Earth. Note to self: Create cheaper, easier-maintenance alternative to the AK firearms family, and put in a 'stop working' switch that only I can activate.

My favourite? Probably the ultratech, because hey, if it's anything-goes wishing, I can wish for a heck of a lot more. And holograms can do my Giant Demon Congratulations.

Divine magic. Faith and spirituality are important to me. Also, it's nice to know that a deity has your back! ;)

Iuz. ;)
