I'll never live long enough to experience all of 4e

2) Even if I played 4e every week for the rest of my life, with just the current amount of content available, I'd probably never be able to experience every character build.

I'm glad you like it, but IMHO, you could say much the same of almost any high-quality RPG, especially the toolbox systems like HERO, M&M, GURPS and the like.

3.5 is the same way.

There are multiple lifetimes worth of options and adventures available.

With Pathfinder, 4E, and the Old School Renaissance, it's a really good time to be a D&D player. :)
It's just a little sad that so many people seem to think one or more of those could "ruin" D&D for them.

Having more options than you could ever try out... Yeah, that seems to happen with every game system. ;)

Your options:
- Character Death is a good thing. Try something new! :p
- The Web is a good thing. Can't play something? You at least might hear the tales of others that played it!

Classes, feats, spells and monsters are all pretty good. I think people are more worried about published adventures and campaigns.

Thankfully... pathfinder. So that worry has been neatly solved. Now we can all live in peace with one another and celebrate that our hobby is going well.

Right? ...Right? *suddenly realizes he's a 3e supporter well into 4e territory and runs, some kind of wolves with at will abilities baying at his heels and all of his vancian spells exhausted* ;)

I see adventures and campaigns as being somewhat insignificant to systems. I look at old game (even other game system) adventures for inspiration for ideas in the current system. Sure, it makes it more convenient, but in the end they are basically story ideas and those usually can be adapted and borrowed.

While the thread started w/ 4E, its true the sentiment applies to 3e, other versions of D&D, and other RPG systems as well. Their are a large number of options. I'll never get to play them all (so I just keep up the running list and move my concepts between editions/systems. Did I ever tell you about the many versions of my half-orc tinkerer that literally makes his own friends...)

I just wish I could play (and not DM) once in a while...

Come on DDI game table! *Still crossing my fingers*
I feel your pain there mate... I'm pressuring 2 of my players big time to take the reigns so I can have a crack with my half-elf Rogue/Bard.... drool!

I wanted to build a Dex fighter and was annoyed there was no such class in 4E. Then I actually tried using the builder to make a Dex/Str fighter, and found that there was quite a few options.

Now I'm quite impressed with it.
