Looks like that would be awkward to play without standing. There was an article about Soviet guitars on Ultimate Guitar I'd say a year or so ago. Very interesting

Yeah, it would have been hard to deal with.

But TBF, I’ve seen Eastern European bands using acoustic and electric balalaikas that were absolutely huge. As in, measuring a few feet on a side.

Thats where I saw that shape. Exactly right, there a lot of traditional non-guitar stringed instruments that would take a lifetime to master
