D&D 3.5 is the best roleplaying game ever created but there are still many issues that need fixing. Too much bookkeeping regarding money and equipment - when you get back from an adventure the game turns into accountancy. Far too many spell, magic item and power effects. The overwhelming superiority of casters at high level. Too much complexity at high level, particularly buffs. For my group, the game stops working beyond level 12. This is a legacy issue from earlier editions which were intended to stop around this point.
Lots of minor issues like overpriced magic items (which MIC fixed), turn undead, LA and so forth.
I'm sure 4E will address some of these issues, that's why I'll be buying it.
