Hi Anubis mate! :)

As for that web site for TNM, what I meant was their system for ordering. They have an interesting system for ordering their product using telephone billing (which pretty much everyone can do without a problem), and I thought that you could use such a system for selling your product if need be.

I know many have tried thinking of possible ways to go about this, and as far as online ordering goes, that is the best I've seen.

I'll look into it. But I think we will be distributing via www.rpgnow.com

Thanks for the help though mate! I appreciate it! :)

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted but I have been reading the WPS’s threads every day.

I appreciate the love! :D

I trust you have been keeping well mate!?

A small part of me was disappointed when you announced another delay (I’ve only been drooling over the thought of your book for almost a year now!!),

You and me both! :(

but I understand that it is the best thing to do.

Absolutely! :)

BTW, I’ve got the latest issue of Dragon here and Tharizdun was robbed!!! I don’t know if you have read it yet but I’m sure you will agree with me since we are both huge fans of the Gord the Rouge novels.

I don't have Dragon #294...as yet...but there was a discussion about it last week in the General Discussion Forum so I am vaguely familiar with their blasphemous interpretation. :(

It was disappointing from a number of angles, but probably to be expected. Even if you assume the Tharizdun in Dragon magazine was the Avatar; that would only make the big boy Divine Rank 23 at best. Still someway below where he should be!

I am still interested in seeing how they deal with the 'Uber-deity' class (I just hope they haven't copped out!)!?

There has been some talk that the Uber-deities may include: Asmodeus (?); The Lady of Pain (?); The Mediator (?); The Serpent/Jazirian (?).

I also have my reservations about how they handle Avatars (they seem to be virtually comparitive to the deity)- so (pending my reading of D&Dg) that may be something I address differently in the Immortals Handbook!?

Best of luck to you!!

Thanks! You too mate! :)

Unfortunately I don`t think they would detail any Uber Deity, but I might be pleasantly surprised. I thought that Asmodeus=Serpent, isn`t his true body described as being serpent-like?

Hi Lord Melkor mate! :)

I tried to post a reply to this last night - but it didn't seem to want to let me...?

In which case it would be a blatant 'cop out'! :(

I still have faith they will though! (Fingers Crossed) ;)

Incidently here are the stats for Azathoth from Call of Cthulhu (Unfortunately not quite the million+ hit points you were hoping for Simon)

Power wise he represents Divine Rank 20 (which I think is the most a Greater God can have!?)

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=cthulhu/article/ex20020321h

Not sure if any of the people who debated the Deities in Game Trade or Dragon magazine a few weeks ago frequent this thread but it also seems as if:

Divine Fast Healing = 10 x Divine Rank
Squamous Blast = Divine Blast = 2d12 x Divine Rank +1 (for Hero-deity '0') (?)

I think Deity Challenge Ratings may be considered 30 + Divine Rank which was a 'quick option' I have been considering.

Incidently I was chatting with Monte Cook and he mentioned that Cthulhu himself is considered a Demigod in the books! He also previously revealed Nyarhlothotep is CR45 so that may mean he is Divine Rank 15!?

I don't have the 2nd Ed. 'Guide to Hell' supplement but from what I have been told Asmodeus is an Evil Overgod and Jazirian is a Good Overgod, both are serpent-like.

Hopefully this whole mess will be finally sorted once and for all in Deities & Demigods!? Which, if you read Manual of the Planes (?) unfortunately looks set to balls up D&D Cosmology big style...

Demon Princes are 'almost' Demigods - does this mean Iuz is now more powerful than Graz'zt!?

They also still haven't sorted out the Lolth dichotomy - Demon Queen or Intermediate Goddess!? This would have been sorted by making all the Demon Monarchs weak Intermediate Gods of course! (Divine Ranks 11 or 12).

Personally I hope my fears are unfounded - I am really looking forward to the book, either way it should be interesting!

MetaBarons ?

Hello Craig !

Well, this is a bit off-topic, but since you're the High-Level Expert, I think you won't mind this too much...

I was recently discussing about the MetaBarons, and I wondered what would be their power level in D&D 3. If you're a bit familiar with the serie (I know it has been translated in English, under the name The MetaBarons, but I don't remember by what publisher), which is possible given there's also a RPG about this sci-fi universe (published by Yeti Entairtainment/WEG, available both in French and English, maybe you could make a guess on the CR of the MetaBaron ?

Although they're not deities, each MetaBaron must defeat his father and thus prove stronger, and the father-mother (a complex story) of the last one was able to destroy a whole parallel universe... Maybe something like Fighter 20/Monk 20/Psion 20/Psychic Warrior 20/Ranger 20/Rogue 20/Assassin 10/Shadowdancer 10/Slayer 10/Most Prestige Classes from Sword & Fist and Song & Silence at max level also... Not a deity, but in the 160+ level class I would say.

Oh, I so hate it, when they make 'evil' lame.

FR-plague, I guess.

Lets not count our chickens just yet! ;)

Remember I'm only reading between the lines here.

It may be that the Demon Princes et al. are low in Divine Ranks but otherwise hold as much personal power as beings considered more powerful deities.

So Graz'zt may only be Divine Rank 1 (compared to Iuz Divine Rank 3) - but physically he may have more Hit Dice/Levels than his offspring etc.

Fire away!

That reminds me of the last time on the boards when someone intoned "you think you're some kind of high-level expert do you!?"* :D

*Of course they should have known better than to duel with a master! ;)

Okay, firstly let me say that I have never seen or heard of 'The Metabarons' before I saw your post. However I did a search on the net and found this site:

http://www.metabarons.com/

Which is excellent (if you have Flash!)

My initial impressions are that it is somewhat akin to a French equivalent of the Perry Rhodan Universe!? I hope my good friend Knight Otu is still around - I am sure he would enjoy this stuff!

Hello Knight Otu mate if you are reading this!? :)

Again (as with Perry Rhodan) lots stylish and interesting ideas (already a handful that have inspired me! ;) )

Its difficult to gauge an accurate measure of power without a greater familiarity with the characters and stories - the website generally only gives an overview.

I doubt one character would be as multifaceted as your above suggestion - Maybe 160th-level Psychic Warrior would be more appropriate? I would have to know more before committing myself though! ;)

*By the way I am reading sites in between typing paragraphs here - it seems Aaron Allston worked on a Metabarons RPG, writing the introduction at least! For those of you who don't know who Aaron Allston is - he worked on D&D Wrath of the Immortals and the Complete Priests Handbook - among many other things!

The few I know about Perry Rhodan, I know it by having seen it on this thread's glorious precursors...

(About metabarons.com, if you don't have flash, this site: http://www.humanoidspublishing.com/ will be far more meaningful.)

I noticed they have Aghora translated yet ! They're quick, it was only available in original version since about two weeks.

If you can go to a library or book shop where they allow people to read, read the first three or four in the Metabarons serie -- they're the best (the last was below the usual quality of drawing and was a bit disappointing, or maybe just the whole story is a bit repetitive ?) and it give a good idea of the nearly exponential power growth of the Metabaron over the generations.

The Metabarons are a caste apart in the universe created by A. Jodorowsky and J. Gimenez . A caste made of only one man at a time. They are warriors supremely powerful in the use of all weapons, from all eras and all origins, but more importantly they are themselves, in their very body and mind, a weapon. The most powerful and dangerous weapon ever, ultimately able to destroy whole universes, yet serving as a mercenary offering themselves to the highest bidder.

The Metabarons comics are about the foundation of that caste, it's rise in powers, and the ultimate emptyness of the life of the last metabarons, living weapons without goals or desires, killing or protecting for money, yet having no need or desire for killing, protection, or money. The Metabarons are part human, part machine, part pure spirit, totally monstrous and amoral yet often less than the rest of mankind.

It's not a bad read (and Gimenez' artwork is splendid, especially in the first books), but it's sometimes grandiloquent and ridiculous... Hard to write a good story about a fighter that can't be challenged. But, overall, it's worth knowing. Jodorowsky created lots of serie in the same universe, the Incal (plus its "prequel" and its sequel), the Technopriests... He's heavily influenced by buddhism, and this often show itself in its work. But what he wanted to achieve with the Metabaron was something like a greek tragedy. He's one book to the conclusion of the serie (the last book being about the life of the parent of "today's" Metabaron), we'll see if he'll win his bet he could take on this challenge.
