Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

By the way guys, Mongoose are needing some last minute changes (dates updated to 2007 and so forth, nothing major). However, that does give me the last minute opportunity to make some changes, so is there any errata or things you really wanted to see in the Epic Bestiary Volume One? If so, you have about 24 hours to let me know.

The second paragraph under Nimrod's "Combat" entry states that he overcomes all forms of damage reduction. I think that should be deleted, as there's no reason for it.

Although I initially spoke in favor of changing it, I'm now less sure that the Nexus dragon's Alter Reality ability tag shouldn't be Sp instead of Su.

The Grigori has, in its skill listing, "Hide 2" instead of "Hide +2."

The echoing, fading, holy scion, prismatic, shining nexus, unerring, and universal energy blast magic weapon abilities all need to have their aura listing changed to "Overwhelming" (instead of "Strong" or "Very strong"). Moreover, the opening magic weapon ability has no aura listing at all (it should be Overwhelming transmutation).

The glittering epic armor/shield ability should have an aura listing of "Overwhelming evocation" instead of the current entry of "Strong abjuration."

Other than the above suggestions by others, my request is to make explicit exactly which powers it is that the Cometary, Void, and Nexus Dragons get per age category, since you now have Ascension to refer to and display how the particular powers were chosen and used. The entries for the Neotic Dragons already make explicit which feats they get as bonuses with each age category, so the Adamics should note which Divine Ability is likewise granted, and the Nexus Dragon (and any future Nehaschimics in future Bestiaries) should explicitly show which Cosmic is used.

This, in turn, will make it genuinely possible for us to design our own Adamic and Nehaschimic Dragons. :D

Hey guys! :)

Yeah, that's not a fun time, figuring that out.

The fun time is me trying to find the space to do it. :p

If I can find somewhere to squeeze it in I will. Maybe in the Gibborim entry...?

I have made all the other changes apart from the revised CRs (Neutronium Golem & Orichalcum Golems) which I am in the process of doing.

I have fixed the dragons as you asked, although I have subsequently noticed that the Void Dragon doesn't have a scaling divine power (and before you ask, theres no room to fit one in).

Hey, UK; could you let us know what the new CRs for the high-end golems are, or will we have to wait another 18 days?

As of an hour or so before I am going to hand in the final document, the CRs for those golems are unchanged.

Maybe I am just hitting a mental brick wall here but I simply cannot fathom a better way to work them out.

It seems a bit of a catch 22. The obvious solution would suggest using some sort of reducing mechanism for each multiple of the Hit Dice, but there is no way the Orichalcum Leviathan is better than the Neutronium Golem.

My own fault for traipsing beyond the design parameters I had previously laid out.

Well, atleast the Neutronium Golem will "look" more dangerous. (I think the Orichalcum L. is actually a bit more dangerous, since it has the BAB to actually HIT a timelord; The N. Golem hardly has a chance, but it's other powers make it quite a terror)

Heh, but remember: There can always be a Neutronium Leviathan. Heck, I bet it's heat aura 1-shots anything less than a timelord!

If its a case of too much power for too little HD, why not add HD? Why did you choose 250 specifically anyway?

Golem starting HD is based on the material 'strength bonus', as per my golem rules in the bestiary.

Then the other golem sizes are either divisions or multiplications of that figure.

Simple physics (or should that be mechanics). :p
