Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

I have fixed the dragons as you asked, although I have subsequently noticed that the Void Dragon doesn't have a scaling divine power (and before you ask, theres no room to fit one in).
Thank you! :D And I wouldn't have asked; the Void Dragon is an odd-dragon-out really, more of an Unelemental (or perhaps Qlippoth, when we get to see those) than a dragon really. Or anyway that's how I view the critter. Space in that entry is at a premium as it is.

It looks to me like the Unknowing ability is what was intended to be the scaling ability for Void Dragons, but it approximates a Negative Energy Storm that's been changed to just negate X levels constantly, instead of draining X per round. Perhaps that can be turned into a new Divine ability, though balancing it is likely to be difficult.

Some questions regarding the bestiaries:

Will the monsters in the print bestiary be using up to date divinity templates?

What will be the power range for the other dimensional exemplars be? Will it be Demideity to Old One or Demideity to First One (Personally I'm hoping for the later).

How many CR 1000+ monsters will there be in all the Bestiaries and Gods and Monsters in total? Will Hyperforms, Spectrals, Transelementals and Un-Beings be included in one of the books, and if not could you provide some details on what they are.

Will the Clay golem (or any other suitable material that appear on your website such as neutronium) be appearing in any of the print books?

What are your current plans for undead? Is it still 4 cardinal points (like elements) going 1 cardinal point (Demilich, Cimeral, Nosferatu, Lares) then 2 Cardinal points (Akalich, Welkin) (These all being templates) then 3 cardinal points (Varcolac, Garganaut) (being non templated monsters) then 4 cardinal Points (???). Each of which in power level seems to go Divine, Cosmic, Transcendental, Omnific. Have you got any more 2 or 3 Cardinal point versions planed?

Will the print bestiary have the same art?

I think most of them already use 99% versions of the divinity templates. Where they may not exactly gel is in terms of portfolios. But even then they should be rough approximations.

I was thinking they would all be Greater Deity range, in terms of power.

Anymore than that and they would be imprisoned. ;)

Probably 1 in every Bestiary with 3 in Ascension given that I have Time Lords & High Lords to cover as well.

I am sure they will show up at some stage. Spectrals probably won't since they are just uber-doppelgangers.

No. But when I get enough interesting material on the website I may vcreate a free downloadable pdf.

Actually I have been working all this out over the past few nights, and I think I have a 90% version of all epic undead.

Below the four cardinal points (Bone, Blood, Flesh, Spirit), there will be six on the next tier down and probably seven on every subsequent tier down).

So its:

4 - top tier

6 - second tier (including Akalich and Welkin as two of the six)

7 - third tier (includes Demilich, Cimeriel, Strigoi, Hunefer and others)

7 - fourth tier (includes Winterwight, Draugr, Nosferatu etc.)

7 - fifth tier (includes Lich, Death Knight, Vampire etc.)

There are also seven Nightshades (I created four new ones) and of course the above doesn't include the Umbrals (in Bestiary 2) which are sort of like 'Super-undead'.

I basically need two more for a full house shall we say. ;)

Everything except the cover art is the same as the pdf (albeit much higher quality scans).

On reflection I probably should have done the akalich again, but I'll probably include an akalich illustration somewhere in Ascension fighting an immortal.

:) Thanks for responding.

I was more meaning what the power range of things like elementars and umbrals will be detailed like angels go from demi to old ones (or first ones when Gods and Monsters comes out).

Good, the artwork in the bestiary is probably some of the best out of all the DND books I own and the new cover looks perfect. (Will a copy of the old cover be anywhere in the print bestiary?

Can't wait to see it. :D

Ah, my mistake, I thought you meant something else. Yes, all the dimensional hierarchies will go from probably hero-deity to first one.

That would be Death itself.

I think you flatter me. I am only just above competent as an artist, although I always try and give some representation of scale in a picture and try to make an image as dynamic as possible, two lessons learned from the master (aka Wayne Reynolds).

I think what I am trying to do now is make the pictures seem more "EPIC", especially the immortals. I want these images to be larger than life rather than just 'fantasy' images.

I should have sneaked it in somewhere but I was a bit pressed for space. I might include it in one of the later books. I have a soft spot for the original image. :o

Yes but will it have stats ;)

The artwork is amazing it has a definite feel to it that is very evokative and is suitably epic. The artwork is one of my favorite things about the bestiary.

Sounds good. :)

It would be a shame to let it go to waste.

Thats a very good question...will there be a Death template?

Another question...will you be covering Advanced Beings...like the Avangions and Dragons of Athas?
