Imp.2 weapon fighting

LordBOB

First Post
ok guys i know this has been asked MANY MANY times, but i REALLY need some help

we have a dude with a BAB of 14/9/4.

Imp. 2 weapon fighting reduces the penality with your main hand by 2, and your off hand by 6. Now im asking the great and all knowing people of Enworld to plz plz plz end my pain and suffering by helping my figure the FINAL BAB. Im not considering his Str. or the +'s he has on the swords so as to make it easier for you all

From what i have figured out so far his main handed BAB should be 10/5/0 ?????????????

I know that with ITWF he will get 2 additional attacks with his off hand. I have know idea how to figure out his BAB with both of his OFF-HAND attacks!!!. Plz someone help me out. Thanks in advance.

First off, Improved Two Weapon Fighting doesn't reduce the penalties when using TWF but just gives you an additional off-hand attack at a -5 penalty. You probably have it confused with the initial feat in the chain. Two Weapon Fighting is the feat that reduces the attack penalties by 2 and 6 for the main and off-hand respectively.

So in your case, you have a +14 Base Attack Bonus granting you three attacks. Assuming you had the Two Weapon Fighting feat and used an off-hand weapon your attack progression would be +10/+5/+0 for your main hand and +10 for your off hand. Using a light weapon in your off-hand would lessen the penalties by 2 so it would become +12/+7/+2 for your main hand and +12 for your off hand attack. Adding Improved Two Weapon Fighting to the above would simply grant an off-hand attack at +7 to match the second attack in your main hand's iterative sequence.

The TWF feats basically give you as many off-hand attacks as you do main hand attacks. Improved and Greater Two Weapon Fighting have BAB prerequisites that match the breakpoints for extra iteratives. So to determine your off-hand attacks, you just look at your iterative attack progression and extrapolate from there since each successive feat grants its extra attack at a penalty of 5 from the last attack. A fully tricked out TWF build ends up with seven attacks at 20th level; four attacks with his main hand and three from the off-hand. The [Epic] feat Perfect Two Weapon Fighting's benefit is to simply equalize the number of main and off-hand attacks.

man i hate to bother you with this but i still dont fully understand this. If you wouldnt mind would you post what each attack should be plz. Thanks

With two weapon fighting, there are two ways you can go. Using two one-handed weapons (two longswords for example) or 1 one-handed weapon and 1 light weapon (1 longsword and 1 shortsword for example).

Two weapon fighting reduces your attack penalties by 2 for the main hand and 6 for the off hand. Improved Two weapon fighting just gives you an extra attack with the off-hand weapon (making two attacks with the off hand weapon since a character can normally attack with two weapons without any feats).

Here is a breakdown, depending on what type of weapons you are using. This is using a Base Attack Bonus of +14 and assuming the character has Improved Two weapon fighting.

Two 1-handed weapons
Primary hand: +10/+5/+0
Secondary hand: +10/+5
Total attacks: +10/+10/+5/+5/+0

1 1-handed weapon and 1 light weapon
Primary hand: +12/+7/+2
Secondary hand: +12/+7
Total attacks: +12/+12/+7/+7/+2

Hope this helps :)

actually it helps TREMEMDOUSLY! this dude is using a long sword and a whip as his weapons so he would so with the second set of stats.

Something i never understood......why is his offhand attacks just as powerful as his main attacks? Im thinking logically when i say that usually your non-dominate hand is weaker than your dominate hand so since im a right handed person, i would naturally be able to hit harder/do more damage with my right hand over my left hand. Maybe im just going crazy i dont know *crazy laugh*

And before i forget

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED ME!!!!!

HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!

His off-hand attack isn't as powerful. When you add Strength bonus to damage, you only add half your Str modifier (if positive) to your off-hand weapon, rather than your full Str modifier.

Right. Your off-hand isn't as powerful as your main hand. It's just as accurate, but not as powerful- the Two-Weapon Fighting feat makes you ambidextrous, as well.

Unfortunately you'll have to use the first set of stats if you're going to use a whip as the off-hand weapon. Whips are considered one-handed weapons so you take a -4 penalty to all attacks. I'm guessing your build is trying to maximize the potential for the whip's reach advantage huh?

well the dude that im talking about usually uses two long swords but 1 got shattered so he wanted to go with his whip for a while. I think he wants to try and trip people with the whip then stab them in the face or something like that.

Thanks to all that helped me out.

ok everyone i had to bump this post cause i just learned about a new situation. The dude i was talking about earlier said he had his long sword magically changed to be considered a LIGHT weapon so as to over come the TWF penalities. So if this is true than i would use the first set of stats that were posted above right? Unfortunantly i cant find anything in the discriptions of his weapons to prove that he actually did change the wieght of the weapons. I guess im also asking if there is an abilty that lets you change a long sword to be considered a LIGHT weapon in order to reduce the penalities of TWF.

He also believes that a whip is considered a LIGHT weapon and not a 1 handed weapon. Is this true?

He also uses a Staff which he can magically change the size of so he can use it 1 or 2 handed if he needed to. If he uses it as a double weapon but doesnt fight with TWF, does he get to add his 1.5x's Str. bonuses to it?........ Thanks in advance!!!!
