Imp.2 weapon fighting

Generally speaking, no, there's no way to make a weapon light.

There are various ways to cause a non-light weapon to be treated as light for certain purposes, however. For instance, the Dervish PrC gets an ability that allows him to treat scimitars as light weapons.

There's a feat in Complete Adventurer called Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting, which gives you a +2 / +2 bonus when wielding a non-light weapon in your off-hand (in effect giving you the same penalties as if you had a light weapon in your off-hand). It doesn't change the weapon, however.

Re: Staves:

There's no such thing as a one-handed staff. It's called a club.

A two-handed staff can be used as either a two-handed weapon or as a double weapon. If he uses it as a double weapon, he gets extra attacks with it and takes TWF penalties. If he uses it as a two-handed weapon, he gets 1.5x his strength bonus on attacks with it.

He may be thinking of a Sun Blade like effect although I don't know where that is used anywhere other than that weapon. Just a thought.

actually i am not a DM at the moment. I am playing a Paladin in the campaign we are in and he has such a confusing character. He thinks he knows ALL THE RULES but i constantly fix his mistakes. I just dont know how to fix this problem cause our DM seems to like this dude over the rest of us and i have a feeling that our DM will side with him as a default option instead of trying to figure out how to fix it. Oh well!!!!

ok everyone so if i understand correctly......a long sword is considered a 1 handed sword and NOT a light weapon under normal rules. I also bet that our DM just made a house rule about it that NO ONE else in the party knew about. If i had known about that then i would have tried to change it to help the balance of the game. Of well, what could the owner of the building we play in as well as the only one who really cares about the rules do..? :\

Im going to have a LOOOOOONG talk with him tomorrow and try to settle this once and for all.

HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!

You are correct in that longswords are one-handed weapons just like the whip. If he gets to treat the longsword as a light weapon, then he'll only take a -2 penalty to all attacks when using TWF instead of a -4 penalty, BUT only if he uses it as the OFFHAND weapon. Wielding a light weapon in the primary hand while using a one-handed weapon in the offhand applies the -4 penalty to attacks. This is because the TWF rules only care if the offhand weapon is light for reducing the attack penalty.

I know that with ITWF he will get 2 additional attacks with his off hand. I have know idea how to figure out his BAB with both of his OFF-HAND attacks!!!. Plz someone help me out. Thanks in advance.

[nitpick]You want his attack bonuses. His base attack bonus is what it is (depending on his class(es) and level(s)), it doesn't get modified by TWF or anything else.[/nitpick]

You can buy a Player Handbook for the DM

If the DM lets the player treat the longsword as a light weapon, he'll need to weild the sword in his off hand to offset the penalties. I'd recommend reading the full description of a whip and keeping an eye on that puppy. whip

Second to that, let the DM handle him and try to focus on your character as much as possible. If you have a problem, metagame, always address it to the DM, not the player. It's not a competition, you don't have to be 'better' than the other players/characters, which some people just don't get. It's all about fun.
