The only reason why anybody would think people are hating is because they view 4E as superior so the rest of us must all be envious of it's superiority. Which falls so much into the nerdrage spectrum, it's not even funny.

You don't think D&D 4e is the best-selling RPG on the market? WotC aren't the industry leaders?

And you really think that matters, even in the slightest, to anyone who plays RPGs? I could care less about WotC's economical dominance or how much DMG's they sell. I can't image why anybody would.

There are plenty of valid criticisms of 4e

Which ones? The borderline edition war you're waging seems predicated on complete rejection of 4E criticism and branding critics "haters", no matter how mildly or fully they explain the bases for their criticism. I'm interested in hearing your opinion on the weaknesses of 4E.

Regarding the OP, does anyone in the thread play 4E without miniatures or know someone who does?

It matters considering your definition of the term 'hater'.

If WotC and D&D 4e are successful then 'hater' is perfectly valid. As for nerdrage I put it to you that defending something and attacking it are two different things.

Which ones?

I don't want to focus on the negatives. Not around the kinds of people who will latch onto them and use them in future thinly disguised edition war threads.

The borderline edition war you're waging

Once again, defending and attacking are not the same thing. If you see my defence of 4e as an attack on other editions then you really need to change your paradigm. And for what it's worth, I loved 3e. I didn't like 2e as much as BECMI but I've enjoyed all of them. I'm not an edition basher; I'm a D&D fan.

If I'm hating anything here it's haters. And I'm comfortable with that.

Criticism isn't negative. It's constructive examination and provokes discussion.

You said above that there are valid criticisms of 4E. Please tell us what you believe they are so we can discuss criticism that isn't "hating".

With all due respect, I suspect the vast majority of people here-- regardless of edition-- are not comfortable with that.

I, at least, am certainly tired of hearing about "haters" or "haters of haters" or meta-haters or warz-haters or any other hate-- most especially in threads that aren't supposed to be about that.

/rant. apologies.
