Improved Trip maneuvers

It's not really a big deal. Just forget about a touch attack being a standard action.... it's not. It can be done as a standard action, but it can also be done as part of a full attack or as a result of the extra attack due to haste or improved trip or cleave or or or. It's an attack. Period.

Now, the definition of a touch range spell says that you get to make a touch attack during the round you cast it to discharge the spell. Treat it as a form of improved trip or haste.... whatever. It's not like getting a free attack is something strange and new.

The reason for the rule is obvious - touch spells are already at a huge disadvantage - you have to be right next to the guy and make an attack roll to make the spell successful. They added the rule so that touch spells wouldn't be completely useless... besides the fact that if they hadn't defined the rule, people would probably play it the same way anyway.

Personally, I'd like to say that I really like the ideas presented here, and that it's a really interesting twist to the standard "I use inflict spells" archetype. Very cool.

erm... that'll teach me not to make sure I'm at the end of the thread before posting... I totally missed page 2. Anyway... neat ideas, and I would allow drop and draw inbetween the trip and attack, but not moving. Drop and draw are free (w/ QD), and I consider free to be just that.

I know that 5' step is not movement you can combine drawing with a move action taken as a move.

Anyway he stated he had quickdraw and from the SRD:

The only movement you can take during a full attack is a 5-foot step. You may take the step before, after, or between your attacks.

So he can attack using a trip option while moving, then he drops the whip and draws the greatsword, both are free actions, then he follows the trip with an attack using the greatsword, he ends the round with two more attacks with the greatsword, slicing the enemy to pieces.

It can be done, uses two free actions and that is okay for me, the third would be a problem, if he try to use one. It also depends on two feats, the two weapon guy can attack four times with just one feat and moving the same 5 ft, so that would be okay for me.

of course that I would think of making all those attacks with a power attack after all he takes -2 to attacks and gains +4 to damage... hehehehe

Just to note that I noticed that you must make the first attack and only then take the 5' step, but there are still two attacks with the greatsword.

Smurf is right when he wouldn't allow the use of the greatswird with the trip attack, as long as the attack is made 10 ft away that would be okay for me...

Dumb me!
