Improved Uncanny Dodge & Flanking

I've noticed that the description of Improved Uncanny Dodge explicitly lists Rogue as the only class that can flank someone with that ability (given a large enough difference in levels) but there are plenty of classes that get Sneak Attack in addition to Rogues.

Are those other classes shut out, or am I missing a rule somewhere that would grant, say a Spellthief the ablilty to Sneak Attack someone with Improved Uncanny Dodge, given a large enough level difference?

It seems RAW it would specifically require Rogue levels, though granting any class levels a character has in classes that grant Sneak Attack as a class ability to count as Rogue levels for making this determination would be a very easily understood call. I would personally rule this way.

Since it would be foolish, and probably a risk to life and limb, to disagree with a ninja.assassin about flanking, I'll agree with him.

IUD was created before all the other classes that gave sneak attack such as spelltheif etc.

To me that makes it a DM's or a group's call to allow or not.

Unless you have Improved Uncanny Dodge.
