Does Improved Crit (Greatsword) work with a Mercurial Greatsword.

Along the same idea does Power Crit (Greatsword) ,MOTW, work with a Mercurial Greatsword.

No, they don't. They are two different weapons, each requiring different proficiencies to use.

However, you might house-rule that someone might switch weapon-related feats between similar weapons when leveling up, following the flexible weapon focus precedent in Sword & Fist. But then you'd obviously lose the benefit of the feat you switched with your original weapon.

No.

The only weapons that allow feat sharing are the Shortbow/Composite Shortbow and the Longbow/Composite Longbow. For example, Weapon Focus (Shortbow) will also work on the Composite Shortbow.

(And that's even just a suggested rule from Sword & Fist.)

The Greatsword and Mercurial Greatsword are two completely different weapons.

No -

The ONLY possible "published" exeption to this is from SaF - and it involves the bows as mentioned.

This main reason to use this variant is largely due to the nature of "exceptional strength" bows; which must be composite weapons. At lower levels - you may not have sufficent "starting cash" to get a composite shortbow or longbow - but still want to take weapon focus or the like as a feat.

Not using the variant denies the player of the figher class who is seeking to become an archer - rather than a melee fighter the ability to utilize "weapon specific" feats until such time as they can actually acquire such a bow. Feats like Weapon focus, weapon specialization, improved critical, power critical - and ther kin that require a specific weapon - are meaningless if you can't buy the weapon in the first place. It is mainly an issue at the lower levels of the game - before the characters have a few thousand gold pieces around...

This is a rule I used - before SaF was published - and still do. I have never had a balance issue with it... and don't see why you would want to restrict the fighter class to "just hand to hand stuff". This is very much the role of the barbarian class, and not necessarily that of the fighter class.
