The rumours surrounding the final episode of the "Star Trek" prequel series "Enterprise" are turbulently swirling with one in particular causing quite a bit of ruckus in the Trek community.

Its been confirmed that "Next Generation" characters Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Troi (Marina Sirtis) will appear, the actors confirming as such the other week, and their appearance won't involve time travel. How's this going to be pulled off, Trekweb has the details below and look out for SPOILERS which include a major character death:

"The rumors, surfacing at TrekBBS, go something like this: 'Trip Tucker' dies at the end of the episode purportedly titled "These Are The Voyages". The death occurs in a holographic program on the holodeck of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, which 'Commander Riker' and 'Deanna Troi' are observing, according to the speculation. If true, the rumors suggest that the episode may largely take place in what turns out to be a holographic representation of historical events, viewed from the perspective of Riker and Troi at some point in the 24th century".

The final episode "These Are The Voyages" airs on UPN May 13th at 9 PM.

So can anyone actually see this happening? I haven't watched Enterprise since the first season but I always liked Trip. It would suck if he died. :(

If it wasn't for the fact that the B&B duo have overdone the "Time Travel" hook, I would find this plot idea kind of interesting from a storyteller perspective. Still - it's just a rumour and to end off ENT as a holodeck "recreation" seems quite anti-climactic.

I dont think they are saying the entire series was a holodeck re-creation, just that particular story/episode.

The same thing was done in voyager with the doctor I belive.

I would expect that they would be viewing this from their own ship rather than Enterprise-D, it would be more convincing as both actors have aged considerably since ST:TNG.

Personally, I think this is a BAD IDEA. Making it a holodeck program is just soooo overdone..... it's not even funny anymore. This show should stand on its own 'till the bitter end..... not "resurrecting" old Trek characters.... :]

Damn Berman and Braga to the depths of Cyric's realm!! GRR.

I think some old school Trek fans might very well see it that way — that way they can say, "Enterprise didn't really happen except on a holodeck, so it's not real."

I don't think it's necessarily cheesy. It could even be a great Trek moment, if done just right, though I have my doubts where Braga is concerned.
