Invasion IC

Jemal

Adventurer
(This is the IC thread for my Githyanki Invasion game.)

The resistance has been doing good lately, four Githyanki outposts have been taken out in the last year, and 2 incurssions into your lands have been stopped. You've helped set up 5 other succsessful resistance camps, two of them in the Southlands... what used to be the Elven empire.

Yes, life hasn't been to bad lately, the war is going well... except for rumours that have been flying around, rumours which are probably the cause of the Officers meeting you're attending tonight.

"I have called you here tonight to discuss a matter of grave importance with you." The leader of your organization, General Mackenzie, speaks loud and clear to the entire room. "As you may have heard rumours floating about, there is indeed a Greatship heading this way, it is filled with at least 20 Githyanki warriors and accompanied by a DragonKnight. We have confirmation that they have destroyed 2 other outposts, and we have had no contact from anyone in the Southlands in over a week. The most disturbing news is that this Greatship is making its way almost directly towards us, and our information puts them at a little over a week away."

His gaze travels around, taking in your reactions as well as those of the other commanders before he continues on.

"And so we have a decision to make. We can leave, try to establish another base somewhere else, or we can find some way to destroy this ship, strike a great blow for our cause, and begin REALLY fighting to take back our world." It is quite obvious by the Generals tone that he would prefer the latter. "What say the rest of you? I don't think I'm the only one for staying and fighting, and if that is the decision this council reaches, we're going to need a plan."

Though Mackenzie is the leader of your resistance cell (And, in fact, the highest ranked member in the entire resistance), it's run more like a democracy than anything else, and you regularily get together to make decisions, such as now.

The robed Githzerai monk, Dalaa Gand stands up from where he was sitting and nods to general Mackenzie as if asking permission to speak. When the general nods back the tall, slim figure pulls his hood down and speaks in soft, polite manner.

"Well spoken, general. Most alarming news you have. A greatship with a Dragonknight, that is powerful indeed, but not unbeatable for a cunning group of warriors. Still not something you should charge head on to fight, no, not in our situation."

The monk pauses to think briefly and then continues: "You tell us they have already wiped out two outposts. If we run now, they will destroy the others and everything we have worked so hard to achieve. They must be stopped before it's too late. The Githyanki must be confident, they think they can't be stopped. Confidence can be a great asset, but too much of it will cloud your vision. This might be their weakness. Maybe the wise path would be to take the fight to them, when they do not expect it. Use stealth and diversion, stirke swiftly before they ever reach us here."

The monk bows politely and sits down waiting for others to speak.

OOC: If you think it's necessary, you can roll a diplomacy check for me, Jemal.

Sinjerath stands up.. "As Dalaa said in his maybe a little long winded speech. We must stop this force. I also agree that hitting them before they get here is probably the best idea. They may be complacent in they're superiority and victories, if so a surprise strike before they reach us might just be the trick."

At that Sinjerath sits back down and shoots a mischevious grin towards Dalaa.

OoC:Character now named Melechesh.

IC:Melechesh looked on grimly. Such an expression wasn't what one wanted or expected to see on an Elf, yet with the coming of the Githyanki, much had changed in the World. Conferring with his Bodyguard, the Warrior-Priest Eventine Moonbow, Melechesh turns back to the assembled group and says 'I, too, believe that we need to hit this Greatship before it reaches us. It should be easy enough for a small group to infiltrate, though I doubt that the following battles will be easily won. I will go, as will my comrade here.'

"Well," the word was soft spoken, long and drawn out, coming from almost nowhere. Then, the elven woman, Saffron, pulled her hood down, helping to reveal her location to the others in the meeting. She continued, "if its inflitration you want, you know you can count on my assistance. Of course, getting to the ship is beyond my abilities."

OoC:Jemal, what do we know of the Defenses of the Greatships? Do they employ any sort of anti-magic to prevent Teleportation or similar means of reaching them?

Nobody has ever tried to teleport onto such a ship, it is highly unlikely the Githyanki would even think of someone trying such a stunt. From what all of you know of the Githyanki, the chances that they would have some way to prevent it are slim to none. The problem, though, is that they ARE very paranoid about spies, ans so are protected against most forms of divining, meaning you'll need to find someway to see the spot you're going to teleport to.

OoC: I think Jemal is just waiting on a clear plan from us. Too bad we don't have a flock of griffons, that would be a cool way to get to the Ship...
