Irregular Transportation Modes

Does your character skate? Can he ski? Has he ever surfed or used a hang-glider? I'm looking for equipment specs and skills for different modes of transportation. So, iceskating, skiing, surfing, hang-gliders, hot air balloons, dirigibles, et cetera...

The Arms and Equipment Guide has Airships, among other things. I believe it's technically 3.0, but equipment changed the least from the .5 jump.

Frostburn p 75

Skates
: Skates allow full movement across icy surfaces for
anyone with at least 5 ranks of Balance, but cannot be used
at all on any other terrain.

Skis and Poles
: Skis allow full movement across snow
and icy surfaces but cannot be used at all on any other terrain.
Downhill speed can be as a run (×4) on slight grades or
as a run (×5) on severe grades. It takes a full-round action to

don or to remove skis.

Makes sense. What about the equipment specs? Is any of this online?

I'm thinking the dwarves and trollborn in my campaign are big on winter sports, skis and skates will be available for sale in Burghausen and used by the barbarians in the White Waste.

The Iron Dwarves use hot air balloons and dirigibles, which allowed them to build Skytop Village. They're experimenting with gliders and parachutes.

Since the Bullywugs spend so much time on the water, both swimming and on rafts and assorted boats, I am thinking they may have developed a surfboard, and my Polynesian Aarakocra might know how to hang ten as well...

Surfboards, skates, and skis should be pretty cheap. Good luck with hang-gliders, parachutes, and blimps. Wait, did the halflings in Dark Sun have hang-gliders? I think they did. How much did those cost? Did they need a skill to pilot them? :hmm:
