Is a cleric class feature also a dvine encounter power

More specifically, the feat Divine Mastery allows a a character to recover a divine encounter power when they spend an action point. Does this work to bring back Healing Word which is a class feature (and yes I know that it is an encounter power - I'm just wondering if there is any distinction).

It seems kind of broken to me since Healing Word is usable 3x a day so bringing back an encounter power with 3 uses just doesn't feel right....

As it stands, if this works, combining this with Supreme Healer, means that every other fight our cleric can heal 2 people with each Healing Word, 6 times for a total of 12 people healed with Healing Word in a single encounter. His pluses to healing are already out of this world. Next, add shared healing and the party can now share healing surges amongst themselves (as long as they are within 5 sqaures) and he also has a power that prevents dieing, or even going unconscious while in a zone (can't remember the name of that feat).

Anyone who tells me healing isn't overpowered in 4e, is on glue!

My general rule of thumb is to read "Encounter Power" and "Daily Power" as "Encounter Attack Power" and "Daily Attack Power", because 95% of the time that looks like the intent.

Healing word has three uses per encounter. Each of those is essentially an encounter power (a power usable once per encounter)

My gut feeling is that you would be restoring ONE of those uses (the things that are actually per-encounter) not all three of them.

I mean, if you had somehow managed to take 2 copies of an encounter attack power (IIRC it IS doable) would you be able to restore them both by restoring an encounter power?

In other words: the "you can use this power three times per encounter" would to me mean either: A) this isn't an encounter power per se (as encounter powers are 1 per encounter) OR this is an encounter power that you have three copies of.

I'd interpret it as restoring a single use of the power, just like how it would affect any other divine encounter power.

i agree with the majority here -- i would allow you to get back healing word (it has both the "encounter" and "divine" keywords) but I'd say that it only gives back one use of said ability.

of course, in the future if some clarification was put out to state that it needs to be an attack power, i can (understandably) see that as being a correct interpretation as well.

Just my take on it anyway, your milage may vary.

I'm thinking this one will see errata sometime soon, and be updated to attack powers only. That said, RAW right now does indeed seem to support the recovery of a healing word use; I just don't think this is RAI.

This is my feeling as well. Healing word (all the core leader heals) are formidable powers, and to argue the rules to say "I should get 3 uses back" just smells of bad cheese to me.

Aside from RAW, as a DM, I would have no real problem with players using this (and similar abilities) to get back healing powers, but only 1

It seems fairly straight-forward to me. The wording of the Divine Mastery feat says "...regain the use of a divine encounter power..." and the text for Healing Word mentions "You can use this power twice per encounter, but only once per round. At 16th level, you can use this power three times per encounter."

So IMO, the RAW support Divine Mastery only recovering one use of the Healing Word power.
