D&D 4E Is It Time to Look at 4E Again?

Now is as good a time as any.

Like any system, nothing is ever perfect when it first comes out, and 4E is IMO growing smoothly since it's release. KotS wasn't a great mod, but i hear the newer HS1 (slaying stone i think) is pretty darn good.

You might as well ignore all the venom spewing over the essentials line. It's just a case of perceived 'who moved my cheese?' more than anything.

3.x was fun to play in it's day, haven't played pathfinder, 4e is fun to both play and DM and I haven't looked back since (too busy having fun), tho I will go through my 3.x books for plots, monsters to create in 4e (or reskin existing monsters as) and inspiration.

In a month or so, the Rules Compendium soft cover will come out with the latest version of the mechanics (not powers) all in one place. This should get you up to speed fast for anything 4e related. ($13.46usd on amazon, released sept. 21)

If you like 4E, awesome, if you still don't care for it, no one is going to burn your PF books (until you are sleeping  ), but it's certainly worth another try. Just don't play KotS again. If you wish to continue that adventure path, move on to the next mod in that series and hand wave everything in KotS. Some other party saved the day, only to be killed by the kobold raids of last winter, and your party found the key items you needed on thier gnawed bones.
