Is there a point to the Quick Draw feat?

In 3.5 you need quickdraw to attack more than once/round with a sling, or with shurikens. I mean its not like everyone gets proficiency with a bow, or has the strength to use a crossbow w/o an encumbrance penalty. :)

I too wish there were a feat like Quicksheath. Having to drop weapons to draw new ones can make for a cluttered battlefield, and if you keep having to change tactics mid-combat (someone with a much better movement than you runs away (and does something horrible at range - a spell perhaps) when you have a meelee weapon and spring attacks when you have a missle weapon), can reduce your options.

Wrong on both counts.

In 3.5, shuriken count as ammunition for the purpose of drawing - you can do it as a free action without Quick Draw.

And the Move action is not to draw a sling bullet (again, as ammo, that's free) - it's to reload the sling. And the Rapid Reload feat only applies to crossbows.

So basically, with a sling, you can't get more than one attack, no matter what Core feats you have.

IMC I house-ruled that drawing a weapon (or a pair of weapons, if you're TWF) is always a move action no matter what your BAB is. A much simpler rule, and it makes the advantages of Quick Draw obvious.

Could you find the rules references for this? All I have got is under the equipment section, under Ammunition: "When using a bow, a character can draw ammunition as a free action." This implies that other ammunition is not drawn as a free action, or why would they specify it for the bow? Or does it say somewhere that all ammunition can be drawn as a free action?

I hate those lycanthropic skeletal oozes! Them and their stupid DR 10/magic and silver and bludgeoning and acid-resistant! You rescue a princess from the Dungeon of Dread and the next full moon she turns into a slimy skeleton hell-bent on eating your eyelids.

Well, assuming "style, baby!" is not sufficient... :)

11th level Fighter is fighting a lycanthrope/skeletal warrior/ooze and wants to change to his alternate weapon. With quick draw, he does this and triples his attacks for that round.

Yeah, I never got the point of the 'you can draw as part of a move if your BAB is at least +1', since it's only going to be an issue at 1st level (possibly 2nd as well with some multiclass combos). It's an added complication that only relevant for a very short period of the PC's careers.

It should be under the Shuriken description:
Shuriken: A shuriken is a special monk weapon. This designation gives a monk wielding shuriken special options. A shuriken can’t be used as a melee weapon.

Although they are thrown weapons, shuriken are treated as ammunition for the purposes of drawing them, crafting masterwork or otherwise special versions of them and what happens to them after they are thrown.

Hypersmurf: Bummer. You just confirmed what I suspected. I was searching EVERYWHERE for the feat that would let me relaod a sling as a free action.

Main Topic: I like Quick Draw, but possibly that's because the games I'm in or running tend to have a lot of movement. If your main tactical strategy is "Run up to bad guys. Take full-round attacks until they die", then you don't really need Quick Draw. But if you're alternating weapons, or if you're a character who draws things a lot -- thrown weapons, wands, and so forth -- then it's a good bet.

Heck, drawing a potion, drinking a potion, and then being able to draw your weapon so that you still threaten the area around you is pretty valuable.
