Is there a Sci-Fi books like this out there?

Tinker Gnome

Adventurer
Okay, I am in the mood for a Science Fiction book. Now I admit my specifications are sort of tough, but here they are.

-Has to have aliens
-Deals with a war between two or more races of aliens
-Humans are preffered to be in the book
-Detailed descriptions of Human and alien technology

Is there a book like this out there somewhere?

If you do not mind the retro tech, then check out the Lensmen series.
Multiple alien races, some extra dimesional.
The series deals with a millions of years long war and the race to gather allies and the ability to unify against the enemy.
The majority of the series is presented from the human point of veiw.
The tech in this series is the tech that would become the cliches of all space opera. By the end of the series the major weapons include; the ability to harness the output of a star into a single beam of destructive energy, and the ability to tractor planets out of their orbits, accelerate them to FTL and use them to strike other planets.

Check them out.

Lensmen was written be EE "Doc" Smith. Start with Galatic Patrol, if you can find it. I heard they have been out of print for awhile. I have not seen them at the bookstore for a few years.
Other book's you might be interested in is the UPLIFT books by David Brin. Right now its 2 trilogies, different stories in same universe. Start with Sundiver, Startide Rising, then Uplift War.

Wow, those books seem really cool. I was able to find a bit more about the plot and it does sound interesting. :)

Well, off to bed with me. :p

It'd be a lot easier to make recommendations without the bizarre specifications. :)

I don't get it. I never say "I want to read a book about two alien species at war." I might be in the mood for SF over fantasy, more literary over light, etc. Just curious why the exacting specs?

Research for a SF RPG campaign you're putting together or something?

I guess my one recommendation would be Schsmatrix Plus by Bruce Sterling.

The Uplift series by David Brin is good for points 1, 3, and 4; there is conflict but no out-and-out war. The Uplift Gateway is a good starting point to learn about the book series and GURPS Uplift, which will distill a lot of it down into gameable stats for you.
