It's dead Jim. Heroes.

I'd like to think that the next super hero show will be about actual caped crusaders fighting crime instead of regular Joes grappling with super powers and running from each other, but it is more likely this will kill future super hero shows for television.

Mind you, I haven't watched Hero's since the 2nd? season, so it obviously died for a reason.

There at least two superhero shows coming next fall, No Ordinary Heroes and The Cape. The Cape will have costumes, but I don't know about No Ordinary Heros.

Live-action superhero shows tend not to last long. Heroes had a good run...I hope they do let Kring wrap up the series a bit.

I loved series 1, found series 2 hard to get into, and stopped watching near the start of series 3. I don't know how much they did after that. I felt that the concept only really had one series in it, to tell the truth.

The first season showed promise, but it seemed clear to me the folks in charge didn't understand what folks liked such that it was so popular. So, they didn't apply it well to following seasons.

I won't really miss it. The show drove me nuts after season 1. I kept wanting to like it, and once in a while a single episode would give me hope, but it never lasted.

When they kept introducing more people with abilities that didn't seem essential to the story, I felt like we were being strung along. For example, this season the woman in the hospital with the ability to see sound and perhaps do something more with it. In the episodes I have watched (have not watched the final five shows), I could not for the life of me figure out what purpose she served. Was she a love interest for Peter? Would she save somebody? Or was she just there as filler to get to the 20 episodes they were contracted for?

Ultimately I felt the pacing was way too slow. Part of that was the size of the cast and the fact that too many of them were off doing their own things most of the time.

What, wasn't there only one season of Heroes? :p

Yeah, the first season was just masterfully done. The rest really fell short. I watched them, but sometimes I went weeks between watching taped (or Hulu'd) episodes because I just didn't care anymore.

I'm more stunned that they're canceling Law & Order, but I guess after twenty seasons that show deserves to retire to better pastures. Wow, I was eight when that show started.
