Chapter 9 The Betrayer Revealed

I had an average group of five. Bronwyn Barbarian 17 human. Buildrick Artillerist 71 human. Shima Wizard 18 Fairy. Mighty Mag Barbarian 18 Human. Wobbles Warlock 18 tiefling.

As Ms. Frizzle slowly apply the air brakes and rolls to stop, Buildrick, “This is not normal.” The group gets on the bus and drops into hyperdrive. She asks to see the staff and is told no.

Ms. Frizzle, “I demand to have the staff. I need it to help Vecna.” Her had glows and the illusion is dropped. “I am Kas the Betrayer.” And the fight starts. In the first round, they break the bus in half twice. Well from the first set of seats forward and then down the middle of the detached half. Bronwyn makes the leap to front, but Buildrick auto shield does not. During the second round the barf rocket starts and all three-parts start spinning. During the third round Kas is incased in a magical hamster ball (DM ask Shima) which falls out hyperspace. With no driver, so does the bus. The group falls outside the wizards three palace and gathers information. Malaina had some suspensions but did not investigate.

No one knows when Ms. Fizzle was replaced.

Spells information led to Pandesmos. The group opens the door there and it leads to a fiend guarding a small ledge with a huge hamster ball divot in it. Wobbles talks to Fred who offers to tear about Wobbles for more information. Fred does not last long. On the ledge below a degloth and viazok wait for the group to come down. But no politicians and only people from the magic school bus can come down but they will be torn apart. They believe everyone is not from the bus except Buildrick. Shima bypasses the ledge and mass teleports the group to the ground.

The fiends and party can not come to terms and are killed. The group follows the divots until they find a broken hamster ball and footprints of Kaz’s crocs. Following the crocs they come to one part of the blood war. They can see parts of the war but the Capace Ridge or Hurricane Tower may give more information.

Arriving at the Hurricane tower Camlash ordering Lolth’s army around. Woggles is not worthy of joining the spider queen and the fight is on. As the fight is going the spider way, Shima summons half a hamster ball to protect the party. As they are cleaning up the minions on the inside, the outside minions and Camlash destroy the webs holding the tower in place.

The group teleports out of danger with a second to spare but have picked up a passenger.

DM Note This and one more chapter to go. You should all be level 19 next week. And yes readers I am having to rewrite this chapter and the next.

Chapter 10 The War of Pandesmos

Magic items +1 Longsword * 4, +1 Dagger *3, +2 long bow, Potion of poison * 3, Rope of climbing made out Lolth’s Spider Silk, potion of Stone Giant Strength, Scroll of Gylph of Warding * 2. Chime of Exile.

I had an average group of five. Bronwyn Barbarian 19 human. Buildrick Artillerist 19 human. Shima Wizard 19 Fairy. Mighty Mag Barbarian 19 Human. Wobbles Warlock 19 tiefling.

Lady Vaeve, “Nice transport dudes. Way to sneak in quietly and make things go boom. I am Vaeve, who are you and what are you looking for?”

Shima, “Call me Shima or anything you desire. Why are you here?”

Lady Vaeve, “Well Desire, so the others must be Tick Off, Horny, Thinks Their Hot Stuff, and Longing? Any way I was looking for sister and some material components. No, I not going to give you cash not to murder hobo my sister. But I will tell where Kas the Vampire Lord is.” Desire is not happy when the group over rules him and a hand shake is made.

The group teleports to front porch of the Ruinous Citadel, and start laying waste to spider frat and sorority fiends kegger. Kicking in the door they announce themselves; the back up arrives and Miska is not happy it not the Avon Lady. Mr. Happy is on the front porch to make a pick up by Wobbles falls down but stands back up. Prismatic Retreat is thrown and both sides go to their corners to power up.

The group reenters and kill the intern but Miska is not home. They move in by the numbers. In the vault they find Ms. Naxa who looting the safe. She is wearing a purple spider cloak and ignores the people who have entered.

Desire, “I see you and going to kill you.”

Naxa, “Frak wizards seeing invisibility. Look winged thing. Plenty of loot. I take some. You take some.”

Shema, “We take off and loot your corpse too.”

Mighty Mag, “BIG WOLF IT TRYING TO EAT MY FACE OFF.”

Naxa, “Bit of a dog breakfast for you. See you. Wouldn’t want to be you.”

Miska returns and tries to bite Mag. Bronwyn betrays the party and starts trying to kill Mag. The spell casters cast counterspell and other things. Finally, Miska is gone.

Entering Miska’s chamber they find Kas the Betrayer working on a portal. The group decides to let him live but they get the coordinates to Vecna.

DM Note. Next week is the final chapter and big boss battle come ready to fight. And I will be making adjustments to the fight.

New Scroll Cost Cantrip 30, 1- 50, 2-200, 3-300, 4-2,000 5 – 3K. Ask about scrolls over third.

New Potion Cost Common 25, Uncommon 100 GP Rare 1K, Very Rare 10 K,

Note Changed Miska stat block to include a trident attack as a legendary. His howl is wimpy. Only reason the fight went all session is the lower level cr rolled well and locked down the group but still my mostly casual players are kicking butt.
