Justice League [Hereafter] (Spoilers - Maybe)

First Post
I just finished watching the latest episode of Justice League, "Hereafter". I really thought it was an excellent episode. My favorite line: Flash: "There are so many reasons why that shouldn't have worked. That and Superman the Barbarian. :)

I thought they handled everything quite well, even if it could have been longer.

Yeah, this was a great episode. I really liked the notion of a villain who is redeemed by seeing the horror of what he has wrought.

I don't know why they put Lobo in the episode, though. I think he is a cool character but his inclusion kind of downplayed the seriousness of Superman's "death" and added more humor than the episode should have had.

Anyway, consider the whole storyline snipped if I ever DM a game of M&M. :)

My favorite was when 30,000 years in the future...

SM: How'd YOU get here?
Savage: The old-fashioned way -- I'm immortal

1st of all I have to agree this was another good set of episodes! Interesting that "part2" was basically an All Superman episode, reminiscent of his own series. But then of course he was 'out of action' for most of part 1.

I wasn't thrilled with Lobo being in it either, because I agree the tone of show had been serious up to that point. It started pretty serious with the ceremony held by the villains and then 'the death scene' and the funeral.
The Lobo shows up and it is a complete 180 turn around in tone!

I can kind of see where they were going with it, but still....(minor gripe)
(other minor gripe) One more Little thing was the Alpha mutie-dog having the distinctive markings that it had so that when Sup's kills it, off screen, we get to see the 'zoom in on cloak' to make sure that we get the idea that he killed it and that is It's pelt he's wearing.

But overall (and other than that minor quip) I thought all of that stuff was well done and admit it took me a while to catch on that Sup's was In the Future. (I figured it out when he got down in the jungle.)

I was rather delighted when Savage showed up! heheh! And love what they did with him, very nice!

(Other highlights for me)
Once again, good use of the Flash!
I was faster than (livewire's) electricity and smart enough to ground the wire into that truck! well done! I also liked his comment about WW and the bracelets.

Batman and Superman had a nice moment fighting (Kalebak?) I esp. liked Sup's comment that Batman probably could have taken him! Also Batman had a funny comment early on although it escapes me right now....

Wonder Woman being ready to "punch a hole" in Toy man’s head! And Flash filling the moral role of Superman and his later comments about doing that.

Manhunter! He seemed a little stronger this time! Yay!

Hawkgirl and the mace to the head bit with Lobo.
Savage's comment that Gl was the hardest one to kill when he killed the League.

"Should've gotten a compact" car line was a good one!
Good teamwork by the League for the most part. Esp. getting rid of Metallo before Superman gets there.

Cameo w/ Doctor Fate!

Flash had a good line of Aquaman supplying the pompous quota.

Not much of a Superman fan but I thought the episode was very well done. Honestly, it was one of the best! :)

That was Michael Dorn doing the voice of the big headed dwarf, correct?

It certainly sounded like him. The character is Kalibak, a son of Darkseid.

I quite enjoyed the episode myself. The Flash line ("there are so many...") had me laughing out loud.

buzzard

Just some disjointed thoughts:

Good episode; I'll say that for a bit after reading the "Earth mourns the loss of her greatest hero" jazz on the CN site I thought that they were going to trot out Doomsday (having regenerated from Alternate-Supes's heat-vision lobotomy) and use him to off Supes.

Color me surprized when it looked like Toyman of all people, the most ineffectual Superman villain, did the job!

I'll be honest, I seriously wanted to hate Vandal Savage, but that was so short-curcuited by his demeanor...

Loved the Atom reference, and, unless I'm crazy or going blind, I'm sure that I saw Hal Jordan among the GLs at the funeral.

I'm kinda on the fence about Lobo; I almost think that he doesn't belong in the DCU (much like Ambush Bug, or how Howard the Duck really shouldn't be in the main Marvel Universe).

Kalibak is the son of All-Father, not Darkseid. Just as Orion is the son of Darkseid, not All-Father.

To secure the peace between the two worlds, they fostered their sons to each other.

Who's Doomsday?
