Justice League [Hereafter] (Spoilers - Maybe)

Wrong.

Kalibak is Darkseid's son. You're confusing Kalibak with Mr. Miracle (Scott Free). Miracle's the son of the Highfather. He and Orion were traded.

Darkseid despises Kalibak (well, he despises everyone) and finds him to be a pathetic fool who does have a few uses (his tremendous strength and nigh invulnerability). However, Darkseid seeks to turn Orion to the "dark side" (heh) although I don't know why.

Who's Doomsday?
He's the thing that killed Superman during the Death of Superman story arc. I have no idea of his background.

Uh, no. Scott Free, aka Mr. Miracle was the Highfather's son in question who was fostered to Darkseid. He was raised in Granny Goodness' orphanage to be a dog soldier, but escaped Apokolips. He also fell in love with Big Barda along the way (commander of the female furies) and took her with him.

Okay, bear in mind, I don't have the money to buy comics. I'm basing my answers on what I saw in the different Animated Series.

I saw the episode in the Superman Animated Series where the sons of Darkseid and All-Father were traded. I assumed that meant Kalibak was the son of All-Father. I've never seen Mr. Miracle in any of the cartoons.

So, was Mr. Miracle in one of the cartoons?

And any information on the Death of Superman series would be appreciated. :)

Just some disjointed thoughts:

Good episode; I'll say that for a bit after reading the "Earth mourns the loss of her greatest hero" jazz on the CN site I thought that they were going to trot out Doomsday (having regenerated from Alternate-Supes's heat-vision lobotomy) and use him to off Supes.

Color me surprized when it looked like Toyman of all people, the most ineffectual Superman villain, did the job!

I thought it was an okay episode. I understand why they didn't use Doomsday since they needed Supes to get knocked through time.

The collection of Superman villains was an odd mix. What the heck was Kalibak doing there? That's really out of character. I guess they needed a guy with Superman level strength. Also, the original voices of Metallo and Livewire didn't return. I'm not too concerned with Livewire since I find the character and Lori Petty's voice obnoxious, but Macolm McDowel was missed.

And Toyman took out Superman?! Sheesh, that's embarrassing. I suppose it could have been worse. It could have been The Puzzler.

I'm kinda on the fence about Lobo; I almost think that he doesn't belong in the DCU (much like Ambush Bug, or how Howard the Duck really shouldn't be in the main Marvel Universe).

Lobo was a great character when introduced in the comics. The problem is that he's a comedic character and the editors have tried to shoehorn him into the role of hero or villain.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lobo getting his own series again as long as they kept it a comedy.

That said, I enjoyed his appearance on Superman and was happy to see him again. He did have some good lines, especially after his fight on the station ("Alright, you can all stay on the team. But I'm the leader.").

Kinda... if you consider Superman: The Animated Series as part of JL. When the New Gods appear in Metropolis after Darkseid almost destroyed the planet, Miracle was one of the characters floating around before Darkseid. He had no speaking role.

I think he also appeared in the first appearance of Darkseid in Justice League when our heroes go to New Genesis...

What do you want to know? I think I own a fair portion of that stuff. Pretty much it sums up to some big dumb killing machine falls to earth and trashes every superhero in his path (he trashes the JLA pretty easily). Superman engages him mano a mano and dies while dealing the killing blow. Oooh. Aaah. Wow.

Then they have four different Superman prospects appear after his death in the four different comics. None of them prove to really be Superman. They were:
John Irons- who becomes Steel.
Superboy -sort of a Superman clone
Eradicator in superman form
Cyborg Superman- don't remember the name of this guy, but he was some guy who could possess machinery

Superman proves to have been in something like a regen tank (placed there by Krytonian robots from his fortress of solitude), and comes back in due time. It's been a while, but this how I remember it.

I would say its pretty well indicated that the Superman Animated series events are part of Jl, as the episode focusing on Darkseid and Brainiac played off of Superman's anger at how Darkseid had duped Superman into attacking Earth pretty late in the Superman series.
Other reasons he hated Darkseid was because he killed one of the main supporting characters in Supe's series. I can't remember his name (Durbin?) but he was a Metropolis Police detective and Darkseid pretty nukes him in could blood. Of course that is the only kind of blood Darkseid has, eh?
Cartoon Network was even nice enough to show the pertinent Superman episodes before the JL episodes that tied into it.

Also, I agree about Lori Petty's voice, my God I was so glad to not hear that screeching sound when Livewire started talking!!
And yeah it was too bad McDowel didn't get to do the voice for Mettallo, although I didn't notice too much difference, probably because he wasn't around for long!

Heh Heh, re: Toyman, Savage said that he didn't even know what he had built! ;)

Another awesome episode. If I read correctly, we've got two regular episodes left, and one 3 parter. An excellent episode that manages to incorporate both the 'Death of Superman' concept and the 'Superman: space barbarian' concepts and roll with it.

Some great lines, and again, great use of the the Flash. Batman was great in it ("He doesn't deal with loss well.") His speech to Superman's grave was a winner. Crazy future Savage was a treat.

As usual, plenty of in-references for those who know: such as mention of Ray "Silver Age Atom" Palmer and cameos of characters like SCU Captain Maggie Sawyer.

I was particularly pleased to see Superman without the moral ambiguities, this time out. They can darken him up a tad, but let's not forget that he's the Man of Steel. You can take away his powers, but he's still a hero. It's also pretty clear that JL takes place in the same direct continuity that Batman and Superman existed in. Teen Titans may or may not exist in that continuity....they've been very careful, I think, not to play it either way (though they imply that it is).

I wonder how they're going to end the season. I suspect that 3-parter will end with it with a bang. Wonder if we'll see Hawkman? :)

EDIT: Speaking of Ray Palmer, TV Tome has this to say about part II of this episode: " As of 11/03, some reports suggest the Atom will appear in Season 3. " This is nice to hear, mostly because it means that they have a season 3 in the works. :D

In the cartoon it was Kalibak and Orion that were exchanged as babies.

Yep, and word is that Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Red Tornado will be featured in season 3 as well.

And I hope Canary is wearing her fishnets. :) I was kinda disappointed that animated Zatanna wasn't shown in her fishnets when she appeared in Batman The Animated Series.
