OK sorry all, the boards have been slow for me, work is SUPER busy right now AND to top it off, home computer is dead DEAD now. I am going to try and get a new one this weekend BUT of course this is causing some stress in the household… even though my wife needs a computer also she does NOT want to spend any money on one or wants to spend very little, and I think that’s just a bad idea. Soooooo long story short, I am going to be REALLY sporadic in my posting over the next week or so… sorry all

...and a decent computer does not need to be expensive, you just need to know what parts are important (esp. RAM (1024 MB) and GFX card (if you want to play games with it mostly, i.e. GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon 9800 Pro are still good choices, I think)), and what are less important (esp. CPU (~2 GHz are completely sufficient, i.e. AMD Sempron 2400+)). ASRock has some pretty good low-cost mainboards (i.e. K7VT4A Pro). All in all, you should be able to get something like this for $500-600 (w/o monitor), I guess (if prices are somewhat compareable to here, would be €400-500 here). Not sure how that fits with your idea of spending little, tho.
