Knight Otu attempts to cast *Raise Concept*! Creatures by Poll #4!

Knight Otu

First Post
As an experiment, I want to try to resurrect BOZ's idea of the Creature by Poll series. If you don't remember them, here is the basic idea:

BOZ set up a number of polls to get the general idea of a monster, such as "Medium-Size Magical Beast of Lawful Evil alignment and 5 - 7 HD." This core concept then was used as a basis for the other posters to build up and post their ideas what it could be such as "a blind monstrous tubeworm".

These concepts form the next poll. The concept with the most votes gets built upon. Two further polls generate an idea for the ability scores and special abilities of the creature. As a team effort, these will form the final creature. Then it is time for the last part (the one where I almost always lose :p) - the creature's name. We gather a number of names and, you guessed it, make a poll. :p

I will largely use BOZ's first series of polls of the basics, so we know a bit about monster #4 already - it will be a small fey of neutral alignment and will have 2 - 4 Hit Dice. Please post a short (40 words or so) description of the concept you would like to see developed, as well as the number of Hit Dice it should have in your opinion. Last time I checked, there was no limit on the numbers of options on a poll, so I guess I'll go with the first 10 to 15 concepts that arrive (if we get that many ;)).

If this lifts up well enough, I will continue the series, with a couple of tie breakers and a few switches. :)

So, post your descriptions for a small neutral fey with 2 - 4 HD. While a rather small category, fey range from creatures like dryads to entities like satyrs, the ocean strider or crystal cat. Don't be afraid to go wild. ;)

The hamadryad, a relative of the dryad. It has the full abilities of a druid of 1st level, including spells and hit dice. It should probably have 2 base HD, plus 1 for druid = total of 3 HD. It might use a special harvest sickle in combat, dealing 1d4 damage.

Kishanth: You are new at this, so, I'll let it slip, names come later, not now. :D

Anyways, here's an idea:

A little guy (or gal) that looks a little like a gnome, with moss and plants instead of hair, green or brown eyes and an affinity for plants. spends it's time tending to the plants of it's habitat.

Later,

These spritely vacuous-minded anthropomorphic bats live on the offskirts of humanoid cities and towns and feed off of scraps they can find and food they can steal. They also have a tendency to abduct infants and keep them as pets. They commonly use their magic powers in a playful and mischievous manner, like most Fey.

A race of gangly, squishy squid-men from beneath the sea. They ally quite frequently with sahuagin to raid coastal villages. Nearly all have some sort of spellcasting ability.

4 ideas so far, good. :)

Khisanth, the name will be decided later.

Everyone else, what HD do you aim at? 2, 3 or 4? If I don't have a number when the second poll comes around, I'll assume 2 Hit Dice. :)

Understood, Krishnath. :)

The sahuagin angle is a bit strange, I admit, but it might be interesting to develop the Whys of this idea, if it is chosen.

#3 is still dangling out there somewhere. ;) one day i'll gather up the willpower to finish it off...

knight, if you need any help just ask. :) since you started this one though, it's "your" baby...

hamadryad has been done in D&D before, but that doesn't mean we can't make a similar creature with some other abilities.

here's my contribution:

This little faerie being likes to "collect" little creatures: be they animals, magical beasts, plants, oozes, even elementals or baby dragons. It's a small red humanoid, with thin arms, a big portly belly, and a sinister (yet somehow friendly) grin on its hairless oval head. 3 HD
