This screenshot was shared with me via Discord, but I haven't found the source yet. Make of it what you will.

EDIT: It's via the Venture Maidens Discord server
Wait so does this mean Kobold Press attributed this "review" to her even though she didn't write it or agree to being credited with it... if so that's a real slimy move to do to one of your employees. Especially since there was backlash.

Probably someone who thought they were being cute and had little self-awareness of how it was coming off. I don't expect any real long term blowback especially since the "review" has been taken offline.

On the other hand if this had been something someone posted on behalf of WotC my news feed would have been flooded with "WotC does it again and then DENIES THE WHOLE THING" complete with red text, flames and a face palm.

I didn't see the original attribution, but the article is now listed as 'By Kobold Press' with the author link redirecting to the KP website front page. And comments on the article have been disabled.

I know we have at least one KP spokesperson here occasionally, who I'm not going to snitchtag. I wonder if the company will say something officially, or just hope it all goes away. To be clear, I don't want people to lose their jobs or KP to be raked over the boycott coals over this. It seems ... crass and unpleasant rather than actively evil.

Agreed its not a big deal. It is tacky but no one should lose their head over it. They could court my good will by announcing a new Midgard supplement. Maybe one about the elven realms 😀

I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion. Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence* and all that.

I don't think this is something anyone here wants to happen...

well, the end result means I can stay fully backwards compatible by ignoring 2024 altogether since it failed to be an improvement

While some subclasses would have been left behind for the time being, I expect many of them to show up in the first ‘of Everything’ book.

Yes, it is less compatible, but for the most part that would be an issue for 3pp material, and WotC providing some guidelines might help with that
Much like TOTV, backwards compatibility subclasses is something the D&D community ravesabout vocally but doesn't really want to buy and are mostly driven by sunken cost fallacy.
