Welcome back! How's your sister's wrist? And new apartment?
Her wrist is quite painful. She broke it in three places, so she's going to be al home until, at least, the 24th. She only got a doctor's note for that long, but she already feels like she's going to need longer. She went to see the specialist the other day, and got a replacement cast that isn't as heavy (no plaster).

The apartment is a huge leap up in our standard of living. It is very secure with a great view of the river valley. All the same utilities are included and it has free laundry. And, most important, it is a no children, not pets building. Very quiet. I can sleep at night and don't have to worry about waking up to some guy screaming at the top of his lungs while the smell of pot fills the hallway or filters into our apartment.

Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect. The kitchen has less storage overall, but we have a full-sized fridge, a built-in dishwasher, and a stove that 30 to 40 years old. But, overall it so much better.

I just need to figure out how to optimize the thermostat. It's weird. It's in Fahrenheit, not Celsius. I live in Canada, damn it! Heh.

I woke up really early to try to get the heat right. Now, I'm crashing a bit. Time for a cat nap. It's roughly 1:30 p.m. my time. I'll aim for sometime around 5 to 6 p.m. for my next post.

@Tellerian Hawke
Big Tim has the bugbear’s shield. If no-one else is using it, Vitus has a mundane shield and could use the AC
Did it get identify? I can't remember. That's not to say you can't use it. You just won't know its exact stats. I know I know we had partially stitched together a house rule for using Spellcraft to help identify basic items. The shield is not a basic item, of course.

Identifying a potion, for example, is DC 25 Spellcraft check and it takes a minute (RAW). For identifying basic items, it is an Epic use of the skill: 50 + Caster Level for basic properties of magical items; 70 + Caster Level for all properties.

Until I can find the house rule, I'll say that you need to roll Spellcraft check vs. DC 30 + Caster Level to get a 'feel' for an item. The person using the skill must be able to see the item's aura. It takes a minute of time to use Spellcraft in this way.

Regardless, Vitus can use it for protection. It is a heavy metal shield and Akos previously detected it as magical.

I assume I'll get the magical shield bonus but won't know any of it's other abilities/code words etc...

I’ll make the spell craft check for the heck of it. His spell craft is quite low
