Eh. They crammed as much as they could, and picked the things that would be the most useful for the PC's from a metagame perspective.

I'm (personally) working on a compendium of campaign information for each of the cultures therein, which would include omitted gods, more campaign-specific monsters, rules, etc. It might be a while, though, unless someone wants to start paying me for it. :)

I would have liked to seen more of the monsters, but they really did not have the room. The write ups in these version are much, much longer and more complete then any other version. THat in itself makes up for the missing gods. Hopefully, we will see future products that details more of these gods and other panthions.

The Ra/Horus deal is explainable since they went for the later (New Kingdom era) concept of Horus ascening to Ra's position as the amalgamate Re-Horakty.

And I imagine we might see some of those mythological heroes (who were left out because they were neither dieties or demigods methinks! :D) in the ELH as examples of epic characters...

It was bad that they left out the norns and the Fenris Wolf and Midgård Serpent :( .

The norns were in command of everyone, and their weave could very well have been the inspiration of Robert Jordan's weave; it could maybe be interresting for someone to see that model.

Without the Fenris Wolf and the Midgård Serpent, Ragnarök (=the Apocalypse) can not be fully explained :-/

Ah well, I guess they have to compromise a bit with the content, maybe :(

wasn't really complaining about the omissions, just pointing em out. :) i have done a few conversions of the monsters, and i will add links when i have some time.

I really would have gladly paid for a longer book. Just over 200 pages really isn't enough. I know the book was $30 already, but if you punch it to $35, you can get in 50 to 100 more pages for that cost. That would have been a lot of room for good things.

What! How can you calim to have Egyption gods, yet leave out Ra and Horrus?? I mean, they are not the top gods, but they are very important and well known gods non-the-less.

Well, they do have Re-Horakhty, which is Horus ascended to be king of the Gods from later Ptolemaic Egypt. It's a result of the later dynasties combining Horus and Re/Ra. They list him as the son of Isis and Osiris, and that he was once known as Horus.
