As always it is a good, very complete review. I've got the book and I like it as well. I think this book and the previous one do a much better job of captureing Oriental Adventures then OA did.

Is a Crothian review of the materials in the works?

In a few weeks I'd guess I'll get to it. Febuary was a busy month for getting books to review; I got over 2 dozen.

I really like the magic system in the book, I tink it a strong point based system for magic.

What period is the material based on?

It covers medieval Japan, from 800-1600 with a fair degree of historical accuracy (as much as could be expected for rules with Ki, magic weapons, spellcasters).

The closer you get to the "ends" (earlier than 800 or later than 1600) the less accurate it becomes.

However, I think the books give you the tools to simulate just about any medieval Japanese time period.
