Basher7

OOC: [sblock=Leif]perception check with elf bonus (1d20+8=12) is the roll, but shouldn't we just be using our passive checks? In which case he'd have an 18 thanks to the elf nearby. [/sblock]

Something was knocked loose in Basher7's neck when he fell into the pit. It rattles as he walks making it hard for him to hear anything beyond the door.

Keep on the Shadowfell Dungeon

OOC: Passive perception is ok by me. The module doesn't specify, it just says Perception. But with the elf bonus, everybody succeeds, so we'll work it that way.

IC: As the party nears the door, everyone hears the excited babble of goblin voices from behind the portal.

[sblock=Mowgli]Regarding your comment in the next post: I guess that's just another excuse for you to HATE 4E, eh? :)[/sblock]

[sblock=Passive Perception]Seems a little strange to me that one can stroll about in 'adventuring mode' and guarantee a certain number, but if one is actively trying to find/see/etc. something they can actually do worse. Just can't quite seem to wrap my head around it.[/sblock]

[sblock=Passive Perception]IMHO, this auto take 10 makes the game faster. Same as you are not rolling for defense. Stealth roll is the attack.[/sblock]

[sblock=Passive Perception]Oh, I'm not arguing against it! I like it, and actually use it in my PF games. Just saying it seems odd that actually exerting effort to do something has a 50/50 chance of ending you up worse off than not trying.[/sblock]

Ahem! Anyway, if we can play some D&D here, you are at the door to the north, and you hear a bable of orcish voices behind it.

OOC: More rules discussion? go to the OOC please.
