Let the Batman sequal rumors begin...

So, anyone want to guess on who they will get for The Joker? Whoever does it will have a very hard time becuse he will automataclly be compared to Jack.
No moreso than any other aspect of Batman Begins was compared to the earlier Batman movies.

My selections for Joker:

Crispin Glover
Hugo Weaving
James Marsters (Okay, a lot of you are looking at me like I'm crazy. But if you have seasons 4 or 5 of Buffy, or season 5 of Angel, put it in the DVD player and pause on a closeup up his face. He's got the hollow cheeks. He's got as close to the right shape of the head you're going to get in a human being. I really think he could pull it off. Not my first choice, mind, but I wouldn't mind seeing it.)

Much as I like Mark Hammil's voice for the animated Joker, I don't think he'd work in the movie. He doesn't look the part, and the voice may be too over-the-top for a filmed (as opposed to animated) Joker.

Does anyone actually NOT know that Bruce Wayne is Batman anymore?

Bruce really didn't need a love interest in the movie. While Superman had Lois Lane and Spiderman had Mary Jane since the beginning, Batman did not have a strong female relationship from the beginning. Rachel didn't seem to fit in well with the movie. I hope to see either Talia or Selena in the sequel.

Oh, that reminds me. If they put a Harley Quinn in the next Batman movie, and if it's done well, I will mail a thank you note to the director for doing it, and to Paul Dini for coming up with the character.

AFAIK, Rachel Dawes was based on the character of Rachel Dodson, from the Batman: Year Two storyline. My suspicion would be that Rachel would be D.A. in the second movie, only to be killed and replaced by Harvey Dent.

As for Mark Hamill as the Joker, sorry, but I remeber him being the Prankster in The Flash, and it was not good...

Crispin Glover has the right face, but the last I saw of him was in Charlie's Angels. Based on that, I'd rather have him as an obsessed Edward Nygma/The Riddler.

James Marsters does have the sunken face. He might work as Joker, if he puts the psycho-smile on.

Let's list the women in the Batman mythos:

- Vicki Vale (Lois Lane-clone girlfriend)
- Silver St. Cloud (girlfriend from the 70s, knows Bats' ID)
- Talia al Ghul, aka Talia Head (daughter of Ra's)
- Selina Kyle (Catwoman)
- Rachel Dodson (Reaper's daughter, inspired the girl in Mask of the Phantasm)
- Helena Bertinelli (The Huntress)
- Barbara Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle, she's a bit older than Robin, so she'd be about 14, so 'holy jailbait, Batman!')
- Cassandra Cain (Batgirl, even younger than Babs)
- Lady Shiva Woosan (world's best martial artist)
- Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy)
- Harleen Quinzel (Harley Quinn)

Anyone else I forgot?

Anyone useable in that list?

Yeah, well, Gigli is rumored to be one of the worst movies ever made. I think that's the difference. Batman Begins seems to be doing quite well so far, and we have every reason to suspect that War of the Worlds will as well.

They are really booking a lot on the DVD release to me, I look at: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=batmanbegins.htm and see that this movie cost 150 million to make and yet only has made 126! It was good and I am sure it will make a profit but I think rumors are just too early for a movie that does not look like it has overseas appeal (87% of money from Domestic sales). 57% of take came from opening weekend.

Look at Mr. & Mrs. Smith: Cost 110 has made a 176 million - breakdown: 58 Domestic 42 Overseas, with 48% of take coming from opening weekend.

Hollywood is a numbers game, they talk alot but if BB does not make 250 to 300 at the box office I don't see anything happening.

The big % from opening weekend is because it just came out last weekend... wait and see how that changes... of course, we're also heading into Summer Movie Season, where each weekend will have a blockbuster.

However, Batman has good word of mouth, and I'm guessing it'll have some decent legs.

Most movies make 55% of their revenue on DVD - and this movie has an excellent built-in sell-through potential.

The other thing to look at in all of this: merchandising. Mr. & Mrs. Smith isn't going to make $100 million in T-shirt sales. :) The 1989 Batman movie was a merchandising bonanza and made HUGE dollars on that end. (Then you get something like the Lion King that made more than $600 million selling stuffed animals...) :)

Blah blah blah.

A Batman sequel is a sure thing.

A Fantastic Four sequel... ? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

(Bored at work and rambling)

It looks like Katie screwed herself over with this Tom/Katie Scientology bananza.
IMO, it likely has more to do with the idea that Katie is just a poor actress.

(At least, she sure seemed cruddy to me in all the previews...)
