D&D General Let's celebrate D&D having things we don't like! (+)

So much of D&D is not what I think when I think of the ideal game system, yet put together make something special that I can't help loving. Class and sub-class based character building, alignment, magic without consequences, magic creep, power creep in general. But I don't want D&D to change that, or it wouldn't be D&D to me. I play other systems for more nuance, for more free-form character building, for more dangerous and mysterious feeling magic. By D&D is iconic and I don't want it changed to far from its roots.

That means they'll be things we don't like, but that's a good thing we should celebrate!

So let's have a topic where we praise the things we personally don't like about D&D!
Standing around while everyone else acts, yay!

A different set of rules that slow combat down just as much as 3rd ed! Yay!

Super heroes in medieval attire!

New books, woohoo!

Monopolizing game store shelves, so new players equate D&D with role-playing! Huzzah!

Besides, if I want modern anti-cutesy D&D, I'll just fire up Baldur's Gate 3.
I don't know if you've seen the 2024 DMG, but there is plenty of anti-cutesy art in there! Here are few (and there are a lot more):

Those are some nice pieces!

I haven't seen much of the 2024 books because I won't buy them, for reasons best left to a different thread.

The PHB seems a lot more cuddly than the DMG- the DMG has a lot of badass pieces of perilous-situation/dangerous art! Players see their characters powerful and happy in the PHB, and DMs see those characters being repeatedly threatened in the DMG 😂

What I very much did not like about D&D is best described as “The Wokism Era.” Has it ended? Is it safe yet to ask if ‘inclusivity’ includes everyone now, or are there still individuals and groups exempt from inclusivity? Have we embraced neurodiversity yet or are we only pretending to embrace neurodiversity?
Mod Note:

Your use of emotionally charged rhetoric could easily be misinterpreted. You might want to work on that.

i'm honestly kind of at a loss for things to say because most of what I don't like I think actually does make it worse, like tired Romani stereotypes.

I suppose I could say Harengons. They're not my cup of dice but i guess somebody enjoys those rascally rabbits.
