Shadowdark Let's make Shadowdark classes!

I hope to get the class done over the long weekend and start the homebrew monster thread as well.
BTW, For those that aren't aware, on the Daggerheart website they have both the Warlock and Monk (Martial Artist) class they are working on, with cards and all available to try out. It's under the "Void" section. I was happy to find them there as I was thinking I was going to have to make my own versions of those two for those in my group who love the class).

I think you might have meant to post this in another thread.

From a balance standpoint, what does everyone think about a wildly smaller spellcasting list for a class in return for casting those spells with advantage? Basically the 3E sorcerer trade-off: fewer spells, but you get to spam them.

I think its OK, but I would also keep them at a lower number of spells known, not just potentially known, to keep them more focused.

The Seer is a bit like that I think.

I was thinking of D&D specialist wizards. So you'd have, say, an enchanter, who can't cast fireball, but he can spam charm on everyone (until the townsfolk eventually rise up and kill him).

I had been thinking that letting them potentially learn other wizard spells, if they could find them, would keep them from feeling super-constrained in theory, even if they are mostly so in practice. (If that enchanter wants to cast fireballs, they'll have to be willing to go dungeon crawling until they can find a scroll.)

Respectfully, I think there are so few spells in core Shadowdark I'd hate to reduce them more. If you've added your own spells, you have some more flexibility.

For almost any magic conception I can think of that works with Vancian magic: hermitic elemental, Taoist elemental, Magic RWBGU.

Full disclosure, to me a good magic system is Ars Magica or Mage. So I'm not quite sane on the subject.
