Near me are The nine ladies stone circle, The peak district, Heights of abraham, Sherwood forest, Forest fields, Netherfield, Lenton Abbey, Castle Boulevard, Eastwood, Giltbrook, Dale Abbey, Amber Gate, Nether Heage, Kirk stanley, etc etc

When i'm desperately seeking new fantasy names my standard solution is to browse a road atlas for small villages from obscure regions of the UK, (or germany when i'm looking for dwarven or more 'northern' names)

eg Eye, Diss, Dickleburgh, Bury (St Edmund), Garboldisham

All real places in a ~ ten mile zone of east anglia

Anything can be fantastic if its not known and a fair way from home

PS I live on Queens Road - Guess that counts as well

I live in Israel so such names are probably very common around me (long history, religious significance and so on):

Har Ha'Moria ("Mount Moria", in Jerusalem)

Har Khoma ("Wall Mountain", in Jerusalem)

Har Ha'Tzofim ("Watchmen's Mountain", in Jerusalem)

Kokhav Ha'Rukhot ("Wind Star", an old Crusader fortress - which's LAtin anme evades me - near the river Jordan)

Gaii Ben-Hinom (a valley near Jerusalem where human sacrifice to Moloch was practiced in ancient days; possible the origin of the name "Gehenna")

Tel Megido (Har Megidon in older words, the origin of the word "Armageddon"; a not to high mound and archeological site near the Jordan river)

Umm Al-Immad ("Field of Stone Pillars"; a series of hills in the Lower Gallilee where a Medusa would feel at home)

Dagon (a huge grain silo in Haifa; I wonder if there are any Deep Ones around...)

Shvil Ha'Nakhash ("Serpent Trail", a hiking trail leading to the Messada ruins in the Judea desert)

Nakhal Amud ("Stone-Pillar Stream")

Nakhal Meshushim ("Hexagon Stream")

Sde Trumot ("Field of Rains")

Beit She'arim ("Gate House" in rough translation; the site of various catacombs)

Nakhal Taninim ("Crocodile Stream", the crocodiles are extinct for decades, and now mostly pollution flows there)

Sha'ar Ha'Gaii ("Valley's Gate", on the road to Jerusalem)

Ceasaria and Tiberia (named after Roman emperors and originally built at their time)

No Place (seriously - there is a village called No Place)

Dragonville (Google search should find this easily - now an industrial area)

Worm Hill (contains the remains of the 'wyrm' killed by 'young' lambton - just google lambton worm for details)

Black Forest. :D

Limes wall is rather close.
My village would be called Belle Oak or so...

There are many old Roman things around here. Not to speak about the 20 castles and ruins in the vicinity of 50 km.

well, here's the ones that jump out around where I live
Grande Prairie
Peace River
Valhalla
Valleyview
Whitecourt
Tumbler ridge
Ft. St. John
Bear lake
Swan lake (two of em within a few hours drive in fact)
Sexsmith (not joking)
Fairview

We have St. Wendel a couple of miles from here. A certain SNES game featured the Holy City of Wendel.

There's also Theley here (which was used in Settlers: Heritage of Kings)

It seems that lots of game designers come here if the muse eludes them ;)

Oh, and there's stuff like Winterbach and Bergweiler, and an hour away or so is Kyllburg (I don't know how many murders were commited there)

Hellgate - original town name and still the name of a local high school
Lost Trail Pass
Wisdom and Constitution - both nearby towns
Granite and The Towers - now ghost towns
Golconda - a real town
Gorgons Belly - mining district
Dragons Back -mining district
Lone Pine Forest
Big Hole River
