Fantastic Location

Ok ladies and gentlemen,

The Boreas Isle - after the passing of the Millenium Comet of 1999, the appearance of Resolutes was seen as a highly unusual, but widely known phenomena. What is not so widely known is that the effects of the comet were not limited solely to human beings.

North of Scotland, Great Britian, a small island was discovered by a routine border patrol some eighteen miles off the coast. Not appearing on any maps, the island seems to blow a constand wind to the south, occassionally seeding the northern Scottish coastlines with strange new flora. All attempts to approach the island so far have failed due to the increasing intensity of the winds as aircraft or ships approach it.

Pheonix, either make it a proposal, or perhaps make an adventure out of it to run (IE, something run by you).

Ok. In addition to information about the campaign and how to submit missions that I added earlier, I have updated the character thread to reflect submitting chracters and clairify rules regarding this.

This stuff is between the character judge and the players in question, the judge will give the player feedback via email on what needds to happen for thecharacter to be approved, at least, as character judge, that is the method I will be following.

As to your suggestion about putting HP on the sheet, thats fine, but when I first went over your characters that you posted, I was about to reject them because it said HP 8 with no explination unless your read this thread. Additions are welcome, provided they are clear and don't make the Judge scratch their head. I will email you feedback on your 2 characters soon, letting you know what needs to happen with them (asking for explinations if neccessary).

In answer to your question though, her super senses are a mutant power, her strike/disintegration are all from training, and so would not be effected if her powers drained or nullified by a mutant power nullifier(or 1 source drainer, etc). The limited means that even if she gets hit by a drain attack vs mutants she still loses the other powers anyway. Probably would have been clearer with the power descriptors, but I typed that on my way out the door to the airport for my uncle's funeral, so I'm sure you'll forgive the omission.

I've put my PL8 character in the forum. I'm open to comments...

One thing, we havn't set it yet, but I've done some trade-off for attack/damage and defence/toughness. +4/-4 and +2/-2 respectively. I found it fine for that concept, but could be fun to know if we go case by case of if we set some rules (2 max, half PL max, no max, no trade-off).

The judges are discussing PL trade offs, we will get back to you on the character when something is decided.

If I may make one small suggestion with respect to character sheets:

The pregenerated characters in the M&M manual each have a 3-word description of the character, right under the name. I think this is a great idea for quickly getting the underlying concept of the character.

Cheers,
Roger

Untill we decide and declare, I don't see why we shouldn't keep it open to whatever the rules allow. If it becomes a problem, we can adjust it with a proposal.

I'll give a suggestion to all the judge to consider. It isn't my first experience on a Living M&M world. There has been, for some time, a board named FreedomCity. It was just like Living Supers, where the world was Freedom City.

One of the biggest problem was the character creation. M&M is pretty flexible with that. It isn't like D&D where you just pick a race, a class and you have 75% of the character made. There was I think 3 or 4 administrator (maybe Brother Shatterstone can confirm the numbers), but after some times, it was determine that it was not enough as new heroes approval took too much time for the taste of players. Four other persons was named on the weakness council. That council was there to discuss about the created character, mainly on there flaw and weakness.

The reason about that is flaw and weakness is seen differently from person to person. I must confess that I don't considered Aika Hyuga "Kunoichi" limitation as a Flaw. For me, a flaw it is something that should happen often. It should happen at least once every few mission. I've played many M&M games, and on all game, I've met only one drainer/nullifier, and his power didn't bother about source. I am ready to bet 100$ that there will not be any drainer (mutant source only) in the next two years, as in this world, being a mutant is nothing more than being a magician, an alien, ect... In a campaign still X-men, where all is oriented on mutants, where mutant are persecuted, it might be of some worth. Honestly, I wouldn't accept it as a flaw, I could let it go as a drawback.

If you compare to my limitation for the character CPU. He must touch or be in line of sight with a source of electricity to use his power. That source must be in range of his power (and all his power have a miximum range of 1000ft.) In the middle of a forest, he will be powerless, in central park, he might have difficulty to find a source. IN the middle of an adminstrative building, with computers, light, ect... no problem! ... until there is a power shutdown. Over that, I've given 3 descriptor to each power: Electricity, Mutant and Psychic, so I am more prone to draining and/or resistance.

I would like the judge to discuss about what a flaw and a drawback should be, and maybe having more than two characters judge for that task, as it ask more than simple mathematics, as there is a few things that are subjective. It is for that reason I've not send a e-mail yet to the characters judge, I wanted feedback from other players/master/judge.

That was my 2 cents. You can keep it or give it to charity. I'll follow the judge calls.
