Let's say you're an extremely intelligent, well-traveled 20th level necromancer vampire and some upstart adventurers are invading your evil lair... with a SOLAR!

After being forced into gaseous form once, when you prepare to come after 'em a second time what spells do you prepare? Any particular tactics?

Her opposition schools are Illusion and Enchantment. She's got Heighten Spell, Transdimensional Spell, Quicken Spell, Extend Spell, Maximize Spell and Empower Spell for metamagic feats. She's got access to pretty much any non-unique spell I'll allow in my game, so any spell out there is fair game (as long as I have it in my collection somewhere).

Suggestions? We play in about 90 minutes and I'm rewriting her list now...

Edit: The solar is far and away the biggest threat.

Banishment, for gods sake! Banishment and MORE Banishment! Then run like hell after the solar is taken care of. Mind Blank, Resist Elements, and Stoneskin yourself before entering combat and dismiss that solar before anything else, THEN think about the other guys.

If the necromancer can use anything, and has time to prepare...

Greater Planar Binding to bring in a Balor or Pit Fiend might be good; I'd prefer the Balor, since they can drop Blasphemy at will. I don't know if the Balor could actually banish the Solar through a Blasphemy, but it's worth a shot.

If pulling back and attacking again in 24 hours or so after dealing with the solar isn't an option, then I guess she'll need to save some firepower for the party. The balor will help immensely, if it can survive the encounter with the solar and doesn't get banished itself.

Even a solar will probably hesitate to challenge a prismatic sphere; I think that spell is conjuration..

Dealing with the PCs might be the easy part, though. Horrid Wilting + Power Words and/or Wail of the Banshee should thin their numbers in short order.

Does she have another hiding hole where she can flee to if the Solar simply can't be beaten? If it's really necessary, she can just retreat and bid her time until the Solar has completed his contract with the PCs (unless that involves killing the vamp).

I hope its not too late...but:

Probably not Dominate Monster as that's prevented by the Solar's circle against evil, so that leaves out a good portion of the enchantment spells. I would perhaps use Mind Fog/Mirage Arcana combined with and some Feebleminds and/or Weirds to get rid of spellcasters. Sympathy/Antipathy combined with various spells like Sepia Snake Sigil may be worth it, Mass Charm has a good chance of rendering at least a fourth of your foes into stopping the attack on you. Demand might work well from a distance also. For heaven's sake, use Otto's Irresistable Dance on the Solar or get rid of him with Banishment or similar.

Oh yeah, don't forget the classics like Mirror Image/Displacement :)

Well, ironically the vampire never found the pcs but the solar died anyway...

Thanks for the suggestions- the vampire is still prepped for the solar, which should actually leave her not-quite as ready to handle the others in the group...
