Loads of new shows starting this week

Not really, but from the ten seconds of preview I saw, I got the impression they were going to go for more of a haunted "can't forget gruesome scenes even after case solved" rather than just "oh yes, I remember exactly where the knife was so Bob couldn't have donr it"

Plus it's a weak premise to base a character on when it's unnecessary and adds nothing to the story. So what if she recalls everything in minute detail? It's nothing more than a personality filler in the absence of plot and characterisation. If they're going to make a cop show, then make it a good one, don't rely on lame gimmicks to draw in your audience.

Decided to watch the Free Agents pilot since it has Hank Azaria and he's awesome. It was...extremely bland and mediocre. Probably won't watch again.

Yeah, I gave it a shot out of pure boredom and after twenty minutes of continuing boredom, gave up.

I also watched Sarah Michelle Gellar's "Ringer" and was pleasantly surprised. It was actually above average. A few cringeworthy moments but otherwise better than I expected. I don't think I'll continue watching as it's just not my cup of tea, but if it does well I won't be surprised.

"Terra Nova - Spielberg's new big budget sci-fi about people going back in time to recolonise earth."

Kind of interested but really, going back 85 million years...20 to 30 would have worked but I guess Spielberg just likes his dinos.

I haven't seen it yet but from what I've read the characters don't have control of where they go.

They don't seem to have control over logic, either. Doesn't it bother anyone that they're going BACK in time? Or have they explained the grandfather paradox in some five second throw-away spiel that justifies it?

Dinosaurs are for the broader audience what dragons are for fans of fantasy- a sure-fire draw. The only other show with 'saurs out there is Primeval, and I don't know if that's still in production.

Who cares about that? All I'm looking for is entertainment.

Besides in that long of time it is just as likely that whatever effect they have on the world just survive the millennium. Heck, they might have settled on the spot the asteroid hits. Or maybe it does cause a paradox and things in the future change. But the show never sees it because it only cares about the past. There are plenty of ways that it could or could not matter. But if your enjoyment of the show hinges on this bit on minutia then I'm a little surprised there is anything on prime time that you can stomach.

I bet you somewhere in the show, those that go back in time become ETs in our time! ;)

3 ways to look at it:

1) Going back that many millions of years, a small populace of humans is unlikely to have any effect on the present- their effects would disappear like a small pebble's ripple in the lake of time. Consider how many asteroids have hit the earth in the time between the show's setting and today. How many do we know had a major effect on the present?

2) the settlers' presence in the past is the catalyst for whatever created the humans of today- causality time loop.

3) Screw the future- we're living in the here and then-now! This creates a different timeline, either replacing or paralleling the one from which the settlers originated.
